This is a moving poem about the real dangers of postpartum blues and it needs to be addressed. The new mother must get the support she needs to recover so both she and her baby can remain healthy.
Great job with your sonnet form - the iambic meter is perfect and the rhyme scheme executed well. Best wishes in the contest!

oh my. That is scary dark and upsetting. Most definitely these are words coming from experience, I just pray that you are not currently still living this nightmare. If so, seek real help. I had a very visceral response to the words which tells me they are well written.

Male partners of women who have this syndrome are very often unaware of the profound emotional turmoil going through the women's head. They just dismiss it as "hormone' issue. I have seen first hand the devastating results of post-partum.
Thanks so much for your review

A very punching and potent piece. Post-partum depression is no joke. I appreciate the empathetic angle here. It's an issue that needs to be discussed but the people suffering from it should not be demonized, especially as they try to seek help. Thanks for sharing.

Oh gosh, how compelling
and an ending that's uplifting.
I was so fortunate that I didn't
have post-partum depression.
I would of given this worthy
poem 6 stars, but I ran out of
them earlier today. My very
best wishes for the contest
with this sensitive sonnet.

Parents are meant to love, care and protect their baby/babies/child/children. This was a scary poem with some harsh emotions. I hope if it is true that you or your friend finds a way to get help with your feelings. It would be good for that person and their child(ren) too. Well written.

Peace be upon you

Thank you for tackling such a difficult topic with such empathy and tact. The topic of post-partum depression is often silenced over while it should be definitely more often present in the public debate.

Very powerful, and very vivid. You have captured the depression and blues which can frequently follow after childbirth very well. The language is dramatic - and authentic. Very best wishes fir the contest.

I am not sure exactly how I feel about this poem. I think that you portray post partum depression well but some of it is violently descriptive. Best of luck with your entry. Many blessings to you

I have seen first hand a woman being jailed for choking her newborn. Can't elaborate more, but it's not something we write just for the sake of poetry.
    Thank you again!

Very raw and powerful. Many women can relate and many men can't grasp the depth and affect of post partum so they are blind to the needs. Excellent work here on this piece.

Post Partum is a very real thing, that some in the world discount, while they get over their disappointment over their favorite sports team losing a game by getting bombed on liquor and or drugs. Life for mothers is harsh and many times unfair. As men we at least owe them understanding and compassion.
