Mario,
Wow, this poem really rocks the boat. Your final couplet is a brilliant way out of the pain of the bulk of this fine sonnet. I look forward to your future entries!
Richard

I found this to be a skillfully penned sonnet, with a deep meaningful message. Life is indeed fragile for many infants as mothers struggle with post-natal depression and psychosis. Thanks for sharing. Kate xx

This is a very hard hitting poem. I know this can be a real problem after childbirth. So glad it was a happy ending. I wish you lots of luck in the competition. Best wishes. Jen.

Author,
Your visceral poem is takes on both sides of the dilemma of baby blues. We see so much in the news of babies dying at their mothers' hands.
This is nice work about a subject that needs to be discussed, and thereby prevented before tragedy happens.
Good luck with all your writing.
Blessings,
Cindy

Although I've never experienced this, I know it is a very real thing and you've described it amazingly in this sad, frightening poem. I'm grateful for the happy ending, and appreciate so much that you wrote this, I hope it may help others.

Thank you so much for your review. Many male partners are not educated about this devastating syndrome and they just dismiss it as 'female hormones ', but I have seen first hand the ravages.

This is an excellent poem, so knowledgeable of baby blues that hold new mothers in terror of what they might do. So good to hear you beat the blues and not your child. So many spend so long in thrall to the hopelessness of this form of depression. I'd give you a six if I had one. Best of luck in the contest.

This is a gripping, graphic, and an alarming verse.

I appreciate your honesty and your raw sentiment.

This is written with a courageous hand and leaves a long lasting and provocative message.

Your readers will be left with strong feelings, to be sure, just as I am experiencing.

Thank you for sharing this important piece.

I knew a woman many years ago who did in fact kill her newborn. She had depression so bad. Thought she would be a terrible mother who would hurt her child. She followed through on what she considered humane. It was terrible.
Your poem encompassed a lot of the feelings new mothers have. Some get past it, some don't. Grwat job. Very eye opening. Good luck in the contest. Gretchen

This sonnet, Out of the Blues, has the proper formatting and clearly mines the thoughts of the postpartum mind and projects a successful ending to the current frustration. Important.
