Hi there,
I hate standard answers to reviews, but at the moment the amount of things I have to do at work is overwhelming, so I'm copying and pasting.
Thanks so much for your kind review.
Take care,
MJ

She probably learnt from you, as we endeavour to be imitators of Christ, children follow their parent's lead, that's the only shape in their vision for awhile, and what we observe when young has a lasting effect. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you for sharing about the beautiful angel in your life! Because she has overcome so much difficulties from such a young age, she is "Freedom and Strength" and continues to overcome and inspire!
Thanks for letting us know that you may be missing due to the rigors of teaching. Check back with us when you can!

P.S. I'll try to write a bit from time to time. If I can't, I'll wait for the Christmas holidays.

I share your sentiment - my daughter is so much more than I have been, but I, too, feel less of a failure because I'm responsible for the strong, resilient, loving, compassionate woman she has become. She is my angel and I'm so proud of her.
A beautiful tribute to your daughter.
We will miss seeing you around FS - please do drop in as often as possible!

P.S. I'll try to drop in whenever I have a few minutes.
BTW, could I possibly use your text about your town with my students. I think a first hand testimony would be great. I won't do it without your permission, of course.
-
Of course, you can use the text! I'm delighted to share my city with you and your students. We are currently expecting a category 1 hurricane by tomorrow, and although that's not bad, they are concerned about storm surge - which is never good for the historic district.
You would love St. Augustine - it is very Spanish looking!

Thanks so much. I?ll make a copy tomorrow.
Sorry to hear about the hurricane. Stay safe.x

Sorry to hear you are back at work. Work is the killer of creation as far as I can see. But at least it pays the heating bills (or food). Thanks for sharing about your daughter. From the photo, I see her as a ray of sunshine, vibrant, warming, and uplifting. My favourite bit was:
No-one will stop her,
no-one will kill her thirst for Justice.

P.S. Although my job is very stressful now, at least I can still be creative in the classroom.

Your daughter is an inspirational, incredible young lady. And yes, you do have a walking, talking angel with you, she is what an angel is all about. I'm sure your poem will inspire many more young people who have to suffer a lot yet get on with their lives not giving in to what life has thrown at them. I enjoyed reading about your angel daughter. :) Sandra xx

This poem, I See an Angel, reminds me of all the angels I have in my orbit as well. Daughters are always on the list, of course. I'm fortunate to have one and her love.

I'm glad to hear that, Bill. Fortunately, despite all of the craziness in our world, there are many good people around.
Thanks for reading.

I love your poem about an angel in your life! She is your daughter and you are most understandably proud of her as she blossoms into a woman. This compliments Mary Oliver's work nicely. I have often thought about her work seeing as I am spending more time in nature and she loved writing about nature. I will miss you around here! You add so much to the feel and intensity of the poetry on this site. Thank you for sharing this marvelous piece!

Hi Jesse,
My daughter is truly special. She had leukaemia when she was four and I think that has made her stronger. She's sweet, works and studies non-stop, is kind to everybody and also volunteers whenever she has time.
I'll miss you too, but I'll try to find some time to keep on writing and reviewing.
The problem is, even though I love teaching, now we have so much extra paperwork that we even have to work at weekends.
Thanks so much for your review.
Have a lovely day,
MJ

Hello Maria. Teachers are overworked and underappreciated as far as I am concerned! I appreciate you and hope to still see you around here on FS!
Jesse
-
I agree, but it wasn't like that till the pandemic here in Spain. We have a decent salary, but we we are overworked. Before it was a lot easier (the paperwork was something we didn't have to worry about, the people at the office did it). Anyway...
-
I am sorry to hear that the pandemic has added to your work as a teacher. In Spain, I guess that is the way they tried to gain control of the issue.

It was and it?s here to stay. Some of my workmates like online and blended courses, but I prefer being with my students. I think a physical classroom is the best way to learn a language. Maybe I?m mistaken?
-
No! I think you are correct in thinking that those who attend a classroom setting learn much more and get a lot more out of it!
