More good stuff. So nice to see Emmy and Hank getting along together both as detectives and, er, a budding romance. (Although Hank does have quite the high opinion of himself!)

"Drooling? Over me?" Hank scoffed at her, though he knew it was most likely true. He could have his choice of women, but he'd never found the one to make him commit long term, not that he hadn't tried a time or two."

There's a fine line between confidence and cockiness and he's straddling it!

Yes, I wanted to show Hank as the budding detective who is confident in his own skin... giving Emmy the chance to smooth out the edges and pull him into line so to speak.

This was not a criticism. It was me understanding precisely the nuance you explain here!

Great dialogue between Hank and Emmy. It fills in some helpful details about the history of the two crime lords. The dialogue clearly shows Hank and Emmy's interest in each other without going overboard. Nicely done. Blessings.

An interesting chapter and a good inside look at the interaction between these two. I sense more will be developed about their relationship and look forward to where it will end up. In the meantime, I wonder where the case will lead them.

You're the first six for this early Sunday morning. I loved this chapter. You can feel the tension building between the two detectives. You did a great job as always. Have a great day. Shirley

It looks as though Hank and Emmy will ultimately be able to work on the case night and day. It will be interesting to see how they figure out the movements of the two families. I just read over the list of characters, and see that Cooper O'Hara is an illegitimate son. Somehow I missed that in prior reading. Anyway, it will make the story more mysterious. See you in Chapter 10.

Right now Hank and Emmy are focusing on the two families but soon they will discover so many underlying stories that affect the outcome. I thank you, Lorraine, for reading and enjoying.

It looks like Hank and Emmy have an irresistible bond between them already, and they say there is someone intended for everyone, except for the likes of Paul the apostle, but there are several here that are that way. Beautifully written Carol, blessings Roy

i like to think that emotionally I felt a draw between my two characters and wanted them to show some of the emotions I was privileged to share. Love is a wonderful thing!

This is another excellent chapter. It is interesting to read the prequel after reading the book. I liked meeting the young Hank and Emmy. I do not see any room for improvement.

I like the way you've brought us up to speed on the crime, Carol, and eased us into the budding admiration between Hank and Emmy. Another well-written chapter.

One spag: "Mrs. O'Hara would never (would) have accepted stolen diamonds."

Carol, you're most welcome. I thought I'd replied to this a few days ago. Now I see there are a few more with no replies. I think I must have forgotten to hit "save"!

This is an good chapter more about the growing admiration and chemistry these two seem to have for each other than about solving the crime. We did get some background on the two fueding families and how the robbery might have taken place.
