Such fun! Ohmie is being the spy and doing the spy things. I enjoyed his thoughts and humor during these suspensful moments. I think I enjoy Ohmies thoughts most in this book. Even when his thoughts are morose, they are always laced with his cheeky humorous attitude.

    Thank you.
Yeah, I agree. "It's not like he has to buy me anymore birthday presents."

It is long, Wayne, but of course you had to keep going until Ohmie got out of there. Your imagination that creates all the detail of this chapter is impressive - Ohmie's analysing the situation, knowing by sound what the guard is up to. Excellent writing.

Whew! I'm glad he got out of there. But I'm getting whiplash going back from caveman Ohmie to high-tech Ohmie, even though he denies being a computer geek. I had to smile at his noting how a smoker could go without for four hours. Good use of the hearing sense to note the sounds of shoes and "staccato" speech. To me, all Slavic languages are staccato because of the strongly stressed syllables.

Well, that was a nail-biting one - poor Ohmie, so sick and yet working through the night. Let's hope he has something useful. His parents won't be happy and Mrs B will be in trouble for letting him out of her sight.

Thank you. And thank you for finding the building scene credible. I wondered about it.

Wayne,

A most excellent chapter in the Best Times of Ohmie's life. He's quite the little spy. It is very well written in the character of a young kid. I liked following his thought processes. Alas, I'm out of sixes. Great chapter!

Very nice! I thought you did a great job with this chapter. It's enjoyable. My only thought was at times I think showing would be better.

>>It was a bit of a hassle at the customs desk. I guess Belarus doesn't like Ukrainians much. I convinced them that I was really Frenc

This is interesting. Why not show this using dialogue or internal thought (or both). I think this type of conflict is great for developing a story and adding suspense.

Well done! I enjoyed reading it.

I can't imagine that anyone Ohmie's age would know who Amos McCoy is; I would stick a different arthritic sloth in there as a cultural reference.

Ohmie's parents are going to be furious with him for what he did, but they will also probably end up being thankful for what he was able to lift off of the computers.

Another good tell, Wayne:-)

    Thank you.
Yes, I give away my age.
Ohmie, the prodigy who went to school and plays the violin probably did not watch METV, either. (reruns)

Ohmie is proving so adaptive and resiliant. Glad you got him out of the jeopardy of that building. Couldn't you also work a miracle and get him out of the jeopardy of the disease? I love the guy, and medical research is advancing so quickly... Kate xx
