We just read the words, and let the images form in our minds. We can see detailed images, and let these words allow many ways for us to visualize them.

Four million salty waves between them
A great start to your Tanka poem, Gypsy. I'm glad Australia got to star in your lovely poem about being oceans apart from those or who she loved. Enjoyed.
Cheers

This is a well written and illustrated tanka. It speaks of loneliness. Both the ocean wave and her tears are salty
Keep writing and stay healthy

What a beautiful tanka, Gypsy. The picture was one of beauty. What a shame the couple live so far apart? Your words were wonderful and so very true. Blessed Be n Hugs.

This is a beautifully written poem about a love missing. I know long distance romances are difficult, even more so when it's that far away. Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem with us.

Hi Gypsy Queen,
What a stunning presentation and visual that reflects your words so beautifully.
Sad and haunting as love eludes through distance with as you say... four million salty waves between them.
Although thoroughly sad in reflection, the beauty you have given of such sadness through your composition is its magic... glow of brilliant silver stars lingering on the page in wait.
You give sadness and the feeling of melancholy a place in the readers thoughts... as for me, the visual of the woman, dress flowing with the waves... searching far horizons anchors every word and emotion before her, I find it hard to not keep going back to her after reading, very hypnotic.
This is truly beautiful Tanka Gypsy Queen... you are so very talented.
With our thoughts we create...
distant dreams.
Kindest regards,
James.

Hello, James,
I love your exceptional six stars review, thank you!
I appreciate your kind words and insightful interpretation.
For me, tanka is about emotions of the heart, as irrational as they may be, it's supposed to be very dramatic. I blame my Spanish blood. (*÷*) Sometimes I get carried away.
Tanka started in Japan's Imperial courts were lovers would write a tanka for eachother as a gift after a night together. I love the tanka nature and form. It fits my need to express myself passionately in words and graphic art.
I'm pleased when exceptional poets, as yourself, like the poem and find it six stars worthy. Thank you!
Take care,
Gypsy hugs

That's so sad. I wonder how you decided on "four million salty waves" but it does express the profound distance that separates. I like that the "salty waves" also echoes the salty tears.

8128 miles = 14,305,280 yards 42,915,840 feet
feet to wave. I was off a few millions, it was late at night. LoL14 millions wouldn't work. You are the only one that asked.
Thank you, big sister. I hope you are having a great day. Love you.

That's cute! Thanks for explaining your calculations! 😊💖
Comment from Gloria ....
This is romantic as star-crossed lovers are so near, and yet so far separated by "oceans of time", and tears.
Very moving and a fine presentation too.

What a sad poem about this pair of lovers who were separated by the huge Pacific ocean. Yet they dream of each other under the brilliant moon and stars.
Well done.
