Very good. Once seeing the padded room, the reader is off to the races. Clever ending and would certainly enjoy a follow-up to either the appointment or the visit. Nice.

This is a neat tale of Carson the Adventurer, pursuing the sapphires wherever they may appear. When we see he has awakened from a demented sleep, hope is alive -- but not for long.

I am not a sci-fi fantasy fan, but I truly enjoyed your story. It was fun the visualize the combat and see what would happen to Carson. It was not a surprise to see where he woke up, but your closing line is terrific. Rod
