Ciao,
I read below your pic that you have been writing poetry for 75 years.
I have never been good with words and have always preferred to keep my thoughts to myself. By nature I'm a loner.
That said.....
Eight months after my father passed away (sept 2017) for some strange reason I started to think in rhyme and wrote my first wee poem on paper. I found fanstory and subscribed.
I had no idea there were so many formats. Poetry helped me move on after the loss of my papa' ( my mamma die suddenly in Dec.2006).
I was alone.
My favourite is 5-7-5 or less because I love the challenge, say something meaningful in a handful of words/syllables.
I enjoyed reading your poem and the message.
I write about animals and Mother Nature in general.
All these wondrous things make my life happier, and I want to share all this beauty with others.

An inspirational poem. I also feel the call to elevate the levels of my poetry. Working on a perfect sonnet might be a challenge. But in the years of quietude this learning task may prove easier. Thank you for your inspiration. Michael

As I've often said, when it comes to poetry, I wouldn't know a sonnet from sorbet. But I always enjoy reading what others have to say, and hope that I can decipher their poems as they've intended them to be understood. Thanks for sharing.

Like you, Jaybird, I vastly prefer rhyming poetry; I feel it takes just a little more skill. I do, however, enjoy reading some of the free verse. Very good job.

Again a wonderful poem. You're a wonderful poet. Reading your poems, you make it seem so easy to rhyme. I can see you sitting at a table with pen and paper writing as you mind flows. I love the flow of this.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and words of wisdom in verse. We are lucky to have a person who has lived and seen so much through the years to share his experiences with us. However, I must say, I love writing free verse better. I don't have your enviable ability to write in rhyming verse. In verse two the word it's should be the possessive its.

I don't dare disagree with you. You are masterful at what you do and how you display your poetry, but there are many pure forms of this genre, and one way can only limit its purity. Best, JohnC.

Loved this poem! I also love poetry that rhymes. I think it adds a flow that sometimes free-verse cannot truly capture. Writing with passion is far more meaningful than writing for the sake of writing.
