It's one of my western drawings. That too is a pastime of mine.
I have been using some of my other drawings. Check out my portfolio. As always, Pam, thank you for your very nice review, comments and stars. Willie

Willie Thank you for the cowboy story and cowboy style. I also love poetry that rhymes, It's a skill that involves more than rhyme. Like art on canvas, it has movement and music. Your poem sings about your cowboy friend and also about things we all face one day. I enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing,

Hello Willie.
This is an excellent ode to Jake. There aren't many real cowboys left.
Sounds like Jake was one of the few.
Excellent rhyming and meter, as well as story of loss.
Best wishes to you.
Robert

Ok Willie, I am back with my six stars for you. This poem truly deserves it. I was so delighted to read it, but so said that you lost such a good friend. I love that he was a cowboy and that he loved that he was able to love what he was doing and keep doing it until he died. How awesome for him. Thank you for this wonderful post Willie. :It was awesome and you never disappoint.

This poem is a real tribute to an old friend. I enjoyed reading his story as he seemed like an inspirational guy who was always pleased with his lot in life, as evidenced by this line, "He was always smiling at every day's start."
I enjoyed your storytelling.

Sounds like a really touching tribute to your cowpoke friend. I am assuming from the author's note that he was a real person. Your poem is quite well written. Evi

He was a true cowboy from the sounds of it, and a true friend. You've written a lovely tribute to your friend, I hope you send it to his family. We are all getting closer to that final day, I'm the oldest now in my family. I very much enjoyed reading your lovely tribute. Well done! :)) Sandra xx

A friendly poem about a cowboy and his friend who rode horses, roped cattle and played the harp together (at least one buddy did). They were buddies who remained friends until the very end of his friend's life. Like your Western poem.

AS fine tribute to your cowboy friend. They are a rare breed. It appears that this man was a hard worker - unlike all the young men today who are waiting for someone to give them a handout.

I'm seventy now; the thought of the "Reaper" comes to mind more and more . . . ! Your excellent poem is very descriptive and moving, an effective blend of narrative and lyric elements. ("Done" is ungrammatically
used.)

Than you for your review and stars. The word "done" was on purpose. Real cowboys would rarely use the word did in this case.
