This is beautiful and so worthy of a win! I remember when mine left - I had mixed feelings of joy at always having a clean and quiet house and the feeling that something was always missing. There are times when I miss my babies, but they are such wonderful adults and I enjoy them now in "altered scripts."

It is a change but then comes the grandkids and they are so much fun. I sure do miss it when they go home though.

What a challenge creating a poem with only 6 lines. It is brilliant the way you have made meaning in so few words. And you express this truth of life in such a genuine and beautiful way. I love this poem. Lovely job!

Ciao mystery poet, you now have 5 votes.

I don't have children but I can imagine how heart breaking it must be to see your off spring leave the nest.

Obviously you are happy to see them succeed in life but there must be some sadness for their departure.

The perfect closing line :

And life for me goes on with altered scripts

Poetry certainly is one of those scripts.

Keep safe!

Thanks so much for reviewing. I miss the little ones. They grow up too fast. Each stage is unique but the little ones are so special and it is a challenge finding new things in life that are as satisfying.

Wonderful entry for the Six Line Poem writing prompt Contest. Good line count and connection between them. Excellent presentation too. Good luck in the contest.

Nicely done and yet I ask of the two treasured memories which would you, if you could, choose between the two not having the option to repeat both? .......................................

This is just the sweetest thing and so beautifully illustrated. Everything about this is as delicate as a newborn. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest,
Sally :))

Your six-line poem tells the universal tale of the parental cycle.
Vivid snapshot of the baby in line 3.
Your message clearly conveyed in lines 5-6 about how life goes on when children leave the nest.
I like your use of rhyme.

Empty nest syndrome is so right, and whoever named the term had to have been going through it. Thanks so much for your review. I have picked up several hobbies and still find that I have lonely spaces. Kids keep one busy 24/7.

From the day we were born and now we are grown adults. Life makes fast changes once we get older. Excellent work! No grammatical errors. Thank you for sharing! Good luck!

Motherly love and separation beautifully condensed into six lines.
I am not even married, forget being a mother; so I ask: 'What does 'altered scripts' mean?'

Are there fond memories, or wishes that didn't fulfil? I mean...were you happy when they were babies, or now...when they are all grown up and independent?

Thanks so much for your kind review. When I wrote about altered scripts I guess I was thinking along the lines of theater and how the different acts change. Life changes also, especially when children leave home. Empty nest syndrome is a very proper term for the extreme change in ones life. I can vouch for that.

True. My mother probably understands it best.

'altered scripts' actually changes in lifes duties and routines since there is a big difference in care for babies and growing children. Then the routines after they are grown and gone. Big changes in lifes scripts.

So true. Time for a hobby!
Nice poem, great font script, and wonderful picture.

It's weird when they fly away, but good news is they always find their way home.

Nice work. Keep it up!
