I love so much about this piece, Jill. I especially like your concentration on time, as if to say, "Look how much can happen in the space of 35 minutes." And I love the dry dialogue. You capture Janet's personality in the same fell swoop as your own, and of course, of Penny's. This is delightful. Essay contest submission time!
