So proud of you to take her class! And wow, you are a poet despite what you said earlier about not being one, you definitely are a poet! Loved the "fabric of my dreams" and as the poet awakens and faces the new day with hope, the "blinds" (or curtains which echoes the fabric metaphor) are opened.

I was about to use curtains and it would have been more appropriate, you're right. I didn't think of the relationship with fabric. I still have a lot to learn. I think I'll change it now.
In Madrid I have both blinds and curtains, here in the countryside just shutters. That's why I wasn't sure what to use.
Thanks for always being here to help. xxx

Hi Maria, I loved your poem. I particularly enjoyed the line 'fabric of my dreams' and the idea of the alarm 'ripping' through....great imagery here and I love the tangibility you have given to the dreams. Your last two lines are perfect - each day really is a gift.
Beautifully written, and I like your approach and resulting product

This was truly amazing, Heather. The picture of the lady standing in front of her window in her robe was priceless and the two videos were phenomenal. I loved your words because they did portray a belief. The belief in yourself. Blessings n Hugs!

I think sometimes free verse is is better fo performance, mind you, poetry is poetry, and still has a certain degree of flow and some rhyme, metaphor, alliteration and simile to it, otherwise it's prose. But Asian forms are different, metered rhyme, can be tougher. Well done, but that's OK,, blessings Roy

Exactly, if we read, for example, Maya Angelou, we soon realize she uses lots of different literary devices.
    Thanks for reading.

I enjoyed reading your poem. I also resent the alarm clock, but it is a small price to pay for another day. Good luck with your book of poetry! Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you.

I think you are very brave. And you have chosen a great author for your first poem. I loved the 'what Katy did' series as a child. In your poem, I particularly liked the second line:
[it] rips through the fabric of my dreams.

    It's my favourite line too.
It's funny because even though I have What Katie Did at home, I've never read it. However I love the kind of children's literature that was written back then: Pollyanna, Anne of Green Gables, Little Women...
I'll have to give this a try when I have time.

I keep on reading children's and YA books. I love them. At the moment I'm reading a contemporary one called Speak.
I'm sure the book is right up my alley. I'll have to add it to my very long list. x

This poem, Morning Hope, makes the sometimes-slow transition from dreaming of good times to actually going out into the world and making those dreams come true. Nice.
