Death comes to all. When I was a working RN there were some nurses that had a "not on MY Shift" attitude...and this upset me so much, Wendy!

I consider it a blessing and an honor to be trusted by God to help patients transition from this life to the next with as much dignity, comfort, and peace as possible.

I always encouraged the family members to be present (as they could handle it)--and speak softly to their passing loved one. Hearing is the last sense to go...

I should probably print this out and give it to my family to keep until needed! Thank you again. Yes, it is sad if nurses can't help provide that loving support. A nurse was helping my father in hospital to sit up a little and he lay back in her arms and died. I was always thankful for her gentleness and care, and that he had the comfort of her touch as he breathed his last.

We all need to talk about this more. There is never the "right" time, I suppose. Except when it's too late!

This thirty syllable poem is soft, gentle, and flowing. The pale shade of the baby blue background and blue feathered picture provide a relaxing feeling as the words are read. Your word choices...whispered, softly, soothing, and love, all add to the reader's experience. Beautiful.

Thanks you. Yes, I wanted the soft colours, and look and touch of feathers to give an impression of softness and gentleness. I appreciate your insightful review.

This thirty-syllable poem, The End, has the required syllable count and renders an end that we all can only hope comes by in this fashion. It is a time when all hearts should be at rest. Nice.

The softness of your syllable sounds is the perfect vehicle for this simple yet deep statement of love. Beyind the words, I loved the feeling of reading it.

Thank you very much. Seems I achieved my aim. That?s also why I chose feathers for the image.

I love the sentiment. I think it's about death and it's very peaceful.

Great job! your message is very clear and relatable to all. Unfortunately, that hope was cruelly taken from so many due to the Covid pandemic. When my grandmother passed at her nursing facility, we had to choose whether we risk seeing her or, even just my father by himself. However, with his health issues it was too much of a risk. That was the hardest thing I've done in my life, giving him my opinion that it was too risky. But I would stand by whatever decision he made as well if he chose to go up. Several days after, the head of the funeral parlor told my folks that 3 nurses, that were with her when she passed, wouldn't let his driver collect her right away because they were so distraught...so, in a way, there was family with her. Thanks for sharing!!

How very hard! Yes, Covid did change the way we all have had to cope with the thought of dying, either for ourselves or our loved ones. I am so glad that she had three loving nurses to smooth her passing and provide comfort and love to your mother. That news must have been a comfort to you all as well. Many thanks for your thoughtful and caring review.

This is a beautifully worded 30 syllable poem. Great font size. The message is relatable because we all want a peaceful death without suffering. I am unsure how the visual relates to the poem, but it is pretty.
Good luck in the contest. You have a good entry.

Thank you for a lovely review, and for your good wishes. (I chose feathers simply because they are soft and beautiful, and I hope my passing will be like that.)

Ciao mystery poet , I gave you your 4 th vote.

The words got to me.

As time passes I think more about death. Hopefully it's quick but if it's not at least I hope my best friend ( she is like a sister to me) will be there holding my hand.

Keep safe!

I enjoyed the sentiments of this poem very much, but I struggled a bit with the different line lenfgths, and a lot with the different colours (to me this artifice detracts from the message). Kate xx
