Yes, Terry, we have indeed lived through al this and so much more. All the music and groups obviously resonates with me. And there are so many others. Procol Harem springs to mind with 'A Whiter Shade of Pale' I had just turned 15 when it was released for the first time. I've loved it ever since. I have just turned 70 and one day, I'm sure, a new musical wave will happen. But we have indeed lived through a magical time that changed the world.Ulla:)))

Well, Mr. Broxson, I just read Karenina's post, praising you for your encouragement which meant a lot to her. I thought her post was brilliant - very expressive with great word choices, so your encouragement was, indeed, a great help!
As to this piece of yours, in 1963 I had a brand new baby, and was too sleep deprived and up to my ears in diapers, to be fired up by the Beatles, but of course I sang along with them as they progressed.
I don't know what or who the young people listen to, today, except their cell phones. I fear, without them, they'd be lost.
I know country music's going strong (here in Texas). My daughter's introduced me to Little Big Town, Toby Keith, etc, and I sing right along with them - and I'm old!
So, who will be the next big singing stars. I don't wonder about it. I'm happy with country, and classical. Weird combination, but then ...

Pam, I like country too. I think a lot of rock in the seventies moved to country...Willie, Waylon and the boys. Thank you for reading. Terry.

I should have signed my name. This is Katharine.

Katharine, I know I was just being lazy. I had some catching up to do, I had a hard time getting the Cowboys to beat Houston! Terry.

Oh, my goodness, I was around when all of that took place, and longer! It has been an interesting few years, hasn't it? I even remember sitting up and listening to Cassius Clay, (as he was then,) on the radio in England in the early hours of the morning. He was amazing! We all loved him here. So many firsts we've lived through. Then came the mobile phones, great big things when they first came out. It's been a life time of inventions. What will the next generation be writing about it 80/90 years time? I enjoyed reading all this, Terry, but I suddenly feel very, very old! Well done! :)) Sandra xxx

What a delightful read this was. I love nostalgia and could relate to this. All those childhood memories being brought back to life through your words.

I would not like being a seventeen-year-old in today's world. Life is much more complex and much more challenging. There's way too much information, both real and fake, for people to have to decipher. Social media is both a blessing and a curse. Hugs, Lilly

Today, we do not idolize our presidents like people did Kennedy in the early 60s. However, if Biden were to die in office, there would be serious mourning because that would make Kamala Harris President (shudder).

An interesting trek down memory lane. I immediately thought of the next big things that didn't pan out. For example the large format video/movie discs and the small Digital Audio Technology discs.

The pace of this piece is good. The subject is one we are all familiar with. The language is conversational and warm. The narrative stays on point. The question is poised "What will happen next?" That is a question that is always present.

Thanks for a good read.

Thank you for this pleasing walk down memory lane. I was a big Beatles fan but loved the Monkees as well. My brother was a Stones fan but we never argued about it. I remember 1963 for a very different reason though - the worst and coldest winter in the UK for just about ever. Of course, being only 7 I enjoyed the snow.

Nicely done, Terry. I was walking on the mall at the University of Maine in my ROTC uniform when I heard about the Kennedy assassination. That is one of the very few events that has been imprinted on my brain. You have taken me through the hallways of my past with your piece.

Thank you for sharing your memories. I think each one of us has something similar in their head. When I was young, it was Princess Diana and Spice Girls who were the most hot topic in my country. And then Princess Diana died in an accident, and Spice Girls decided to part parts. I was a kid, and I still remember the night when Princess Diana's death hit the headlines. Memories, such a vital thing in our lives.
