a great cowboy poem. I am a fan of the genre and you do it well -especially using cursive fonts -making me think I wrote the poem in a bar while drinking beer.

I remember thinking to myself that I shouldn't bother God with a small matter that was important to me, but in the scheme of things...these thoughts popped into my mind, son, if it's important to you, it's important, God is a perfect father. Beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

This is a wonderful poem. Just goes to show that all poems don't have to fancy. I'm sure God listened just as intently to Willy as he does the Pope. I liked that his idea of heaven was doing what he loved, riding horses. Not streets paved with gold. Great poem. Gretchen

I love the way you rhyme and also the way your cowboy becomes alive in the poem.
His wanting to go to a heaven where there are horses is a great touch.

I'm not a big fan of Westerns with the exception of those that really depict the truth between the whites settlers, the army etc and the Indians but I have to say this cowboy praying to the Lord charmed me.
....as did his wish to roam with other cowboys and horses once he is in heaven.
For some it might be sappy but it worked for me. The theme was creative.

The horse with his head bowed, conjures up great imagery even before the poem begins. You must have great faith. Perhaps I have trouble reading your words as I am not from the United States. Stay happy.

It's funny how we all different things when we go, but we all want the same things as well. I'm convinced that if I die and there isn't coffee or chocolate, then, I'll know I'm in the wrong place and I did something wrong. I hope you have many years left to explore the trails you long to travel.
