Debi,
Keeping the spirit up works wonder during recovery. Surrounding oneself with supporting family members adds magic to the healing process. Finally, you can't ask for more when you are encircled by the many friends at FanStory. Good luck with both recovery and writing

Absolutely, that is what is most important, Debi. Stay true to who you really are. Don't ever change that. That what we all love about you.
Does this poem mean you're back home now? Good luck. Ulla:)))

I am Ulla and thank you for asking and all of your kind words. I got home Friday, with my team of therapists and HHC waiting in my driveway to help the transition to home. Lol, I have to work hard, because they are slave drivers. Haha! And so happy that they are. Thanks again my very dear friend for caring and being such a friend here. Friends indeed make the inactive time so much more enjoyable here at FS, that I just don't know what I would do without you all. Thanks again my friend!

Wonderful happy picture of you and your grandkids. I'm sure you have wild and crazy times and they're lucky to have you as their gramma. This poem reminds me of my sister, also in her sixties and who now is bionic with two new knees and a new hip. She's amazing getting around, playing golf and loving time with her grandkids. I'll bet your grandkids are thinking about Halloween and what costumes they'll wear. Fun times.
Enjoyed your positive, uplifting poem.
Well done.
Cheers ... ;-)

Oh thank you for such love comments and for telling me about your sister. She must be thrilled to be active with her grandkids again. I am now excited to see what next Summer will bring since I won't be planning activities from a wheelchair anymore. It has been a long time since my Lupus took away my ability to walk among organ damages and even cancer. Plus many surgeries. But my mom taught me to be thankful in all situations and it was her wise words to keep what was good and throw out through rest. Meaning what causes stress or unhappiness. Kind of like the serenity prayer.

The author's words are filled with excitement, love of family, and joy! The author's poem made me think of my family and grandchildren and how they bring such joy to my life. The last line of the author's words state clearly what really matters! The poem flows and connects well. The artwork is awesome! Have a great Sunday, Debi! Blessings, Maria

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I agree being with the grandkids is the best place to be. I think the reason I taught first grade so many years is because I enjoyed having fun and being silly. First graders and grandkids enjoy it as much as I do. Good luck with the contest.

Awe Barb, you are a grandmother after my own heart. I wish I would have taught in the classroom, but instead chose special ed. Those little germ carriers too often caused Lupus flare ups so I had to retire when I was in my early forties. I bet you are the best first teacher ever. I just feel that about you. Especially knowing how much you love your family. My mom was a second grade teacher, and she was amazing just like you.,......
Thank you for your kind review my friend.

This is a beautiful expression of your thoughts and feelings. I need a hip replacement (have for over two years) and the neurosurgeon refuses to do the surgery until I can get down to the weight he wants. About a week ago, I was going from the kitchen and I heard this loud POP. I don't even know what exactly popped, all I know was from lower back to my foot I was in excruciating pain. It let up enough that I can stagger around, but I still can barely put any weight on it. I miss going to the zoos and aquariums and things with my grandbabies.

Monica, I am so sorry for this late thank you. I truly appreciate your very kind review, comments and gracious six stars. You are so very sweet!
And you must be in an excruciating pain, which I truly understand.Your doctor may have a stricter rule for doing the surgery than others. My husband is over weight and he had both hips done this Summer. I had both legs straightened and strengthening rods from hips to my ankles. I haven't walked in years due to my Lupus deteriorating my.bones, joints, muscle mass and both knees were bone on bone. If you put my legs together, they looked like a big letter X. That's how deformed they were. So he had his first hip in June, I had my first leg and knee in July, him August and me early September. I just got home on Friday..My PT team was waiting in the drive way to transition me to home start therapy. Slave drivers! Haha! So I know how hard it is to lose weight if you can't be moving around, That's why FS is so helpful.. For my surgeries I did have to keep my weight below 150 or they couldn't put enough hardware in to make it so I could walk. So I was telling my husband how you had the pop somewhere and where you felt it, and he just cringed as he had something like that before his surgery. I wish you the best Hon, and hope they can do yours soon. Thanks again my lovely friend!

With all your replacement parts, I would love to be standing somewhere near when you go through the scanner at the airport and blow the TSA agent's mind when you set off the alarm. I can just imagine the look on his/her face. I wonder, how will you explain?

Lol, I have done that many times. I was at the courthouse one day and I thought they were going to make me strip or I would be arrested. Since then I have got a another medal piece. One that says I am full of medal. Or like my neurosurgeon said on my second spine surgery, that he opened me up and then emptied out his tool box in me. Thanks so much Nomi for such a fun review and as always kind comments my very dear friend. Debi

I'm sure your grandkids adore you, Debi! I have no doubts this is who you are, as I've learned a bit about you here and there these past months. your personality and bravery in rehab and beyond have that gravitational pull on people who come in contact with you. Loved this one! Your kiddies are adorable! Best, JohnC

Ciao poet!

I see that not much can get you down, you are a born fighter..I hope you do reach your next goal and by Christmas you are back walking . I wish I had your inner strength.

You love your family much, and I'm sure they support you.

Thank you for sharing

PS; Just a suggestion ..you should find a more suitable font. The letters are too squashed and make reading difficult.

Ciao!

Thank you so much for that feedback. Another had commented the same, so I just got back from editing the font. I hope it looks better now. Of course I have days that I get down, but if I have a pity party I invite Jesus and he will make sure we don't stay long. I thank you so much for your kind comments my friend.

Debi, a very nice poem that sounds like you, so I think you do know yourself the best! It is also a fun look at you and how your self of humor holds you up.

I would comment the font or style seems to "bleed" together making it a little hard to read. Good work. Terry.
