Wow, you come from great roots, Beth! I especially loved learning about your Huguenot ancestry. I was always interested in the French Protestants. They did a lot to help the Jews during the Nazi occupation of France.

America is, indeed, a noble experiment, shunning and shedding all European titles and honors.
I contacted an old soul with my last name (Fowler) living near where my ancestors lived for a time. Turned out his parents were Famler (with an umlout). The locals, as well as census takers, couldn't say it right, and recorded them as Fowler.

I contacted an old soul with my last name (Fowler) living near where my ancestors lived for a time. Turned out his parents were Famler (with an umlout). The locals, as well as census takers, couldn't say it right, and recorded them as Fowler.

Thanks for the review and comments. Where are you Fowler's from. I have a Martha Fowler Allen in my ancestry. She was born 1789 in South Carolina I don't know where the Fowler name came from.
Maybe a grandmother's last name.

Believe it, or not. South Carolina. My guess is that the first was sent to the S.C. penal colony from England. lol The earliest we found is Zephema, prob'ly a mispronunciation of Zephaniah.

Your family gets more and more interesting. My family basically existed. LOL I am so happy you're tracing your ancestors and writing this down. I keep doing it very slowly. I need to set aside time weekly to continue.
