This is fun, Terry. What a magnificent dinner party to go to! And you had the best seat in the house! I love John Lennon and Elton John singing together!
This is a clever entertaining fiction story. Don't you wish it were true?
Thanks for lightening up my day with this enjoyable dinner party.
Jesse

Wow. I simply love it. I want to go to that dinner party.I could sit with John Lennon and George Harrison. The part when they met brought tears to my eyes. So entertaining and informative. Genius. Thanks so much for writing this. Jen.

A wonderful dinner party and the musical guests will liven the night as music always does. (I have Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville coming up on Sally's Jukebox Hits, just so you know.)

Johnny Carson is always great to great the crowd going. Wonderfully creative, Terry. Thank you so much for sharing! Sending you my best today as always,
Sal :)))

The evening would be an extravaganza I would view on Amazon Prime, truly rendering an era of talent never to be compared again. The great memories of the past and is surmountable to today's unbearing 'art' of music.

What a wonderful slice of fiction, and an even more amazing dinner party, wish I'd been there!

I really enjoyed reading this, I love stories that make me chuckle.

That little addition to Dolly's description ",among other things.", was definitely one of my chuckles. As was Patti Page's choice of songs with the line "I am not sure if Frank will get the message."

I love your opening line - no need to repeat it here as I think all readers now have it firmly imprinted on their minds.

A great read, thanks for sharing - oh and thanks for setting up the contest.

Well, but based on your other stories, I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't really meet some of these stars. After all, you even know Dolly's husband's name and I never knew! Thanks for the line up of entertainers and songs and for creating contest, too!

I love your fiction, Terry. And you couldn't do any better than the great Marilyn Monroe (as long as, in your fiction, you described her in her prime! I wouldn't quarrel with any of your other choices of guests, or how you ranked them. You can't beat Mona Lisa .... But does Linda Ronstadt have Parkinsons? Frankly, I thought she'd passed away. She was good, though!

Jay, thank you for reading and your kind words. Yes Linda does have Parkinsons, and still very much alive. There are a couple of good documentaries about her on Amazon Prime if you are interested. Terry.

I can remember crying as a teenager when Kate Smith sang "God Bless America". One nice thing about being old is that I saw all these people when they sang the songs you've mentioned. You have an incredible party planned.

An enjoyable read. Two song titles I did not recognize: Changing Partners and Up Against the Wall.... Also, I never heard of Jerry Butler. Glad Dolly's husband nixed her duet with Frank. Got a kick out of your choice of a date. Don't you wish Marilynn would whisper that after a night in your bed??

This is a great story that engaged me throughout.

I especially love the first line,

"The joy of fiction is that which was not, can be."

I think that sums up not only the essence of the genre but the art of story telling itself!

This is such a fun, lighthearted post!!

I knew all of the artists seated at the table and have been inspired the listen to music after the last game is played tonight.

Thanks for sharing.
