Great. It is nice to know your history and place it in such harmony. Great line-up of guests. Where was Dean Martin? You certainly came through with a star-studded cast. Although I am not the lyrical historian you are, I enjoyed all the introductions and appreciated being there. Terrific ending with Blondie!

Very nice. This was so much fun to read.
I didn't understand the following line, but my elevator isn't the brightest bulb on the tree.
To Dolly's left is the Chairman of the Board, Frank Sinatra. Dolly and Frank are going to perform "Islands in the Stream." Frank wanted to do "Islands in the Steam.
Keep entertaining us please!

Douglas, thank you for reading my story. The line about Dolly and Frank...Dolly and Kenny Rogers had a big hit with "Islands in the Stream." So, for this party, I came up with a play of words on the title, "Islands in the Steam." It was a nod to the sexy Dolly, and the ladies' man, Frank. I thought Frank might like to make it a little steamy, But Dolly's husband, nixed it. Thank you, Terry.

Oh yes. The song she did with Kenny Rogers. Got it! Thanks ! Well played!

Can I come to your dinner party, Terry? This sounds like a night for the ages, and I'm with Marilyn - wouldn't want it to stop.
This is a wonderful fantasy and you entertain us well with your list of would-be entertainers. Nice work:-)

Pam, you sure can come to the next party. I had several say the same thing so I posted an After Party where some FS members who reviewed this showed up. Maybe an annual event! LOL, take a look at The After Party and see what you think, Thank you for reading. Terry.

You've created a very interesting Dinner Seating Chart, Terry. The music you've chosen has taken me for a pleasant walk down memory lane too. I learned a few things I didn't know about some of the stars you've invited. Great contest idea. Thanks.

Judy, thank you for reading and for your kind review. If you are interested there is a companion story, The After Party, a few FS members show up...based on their review of the first story. Terry.
-
Ha! You're welcome, Terry. I'll have to check that out.
Comment from Sandra Nelms-Ludwig
It's a blind contest so you could have easily entered too. Many do this. I have done it myself. This is a very good story. Your dinner guest list is fabulous. I would love to be at this dinner. Putting hit songs from the singers in the story was a great touch. You mentioned the food was exquisite and the wine was divine. It would be great to know what foods and wines were served. Well-written per usual.

Sandra, thank you for the review. In the follow-up story The After Dinner Party, I would have gladly included you, had I known of your interest, however, there may be an annual party, and you will be there! Terry.

You are welcome. You mean you interviewed me and didn't know my interest? It's cool Terry, I have had my nose stuck in a lot of happenings on this site. I'm not much of a wallflower.

I have never read you before but after this contribution, I surely will! This was brilliantly done and must have taken ages to work out. As I said brilliant! Mabaker12

Mabaker, thank you very much for the six stars, and your kind review. I don't write very much poetry. I am mostly a storyteller. Thank you for reading. Terry.

That was entertaining! I laughed out loud at the ending and your choice of dinner date. Can you get me a pair of tickets to your next dinner party?
A couple of minor nits - Third paragraph, should be "guests" not "guest". Fifth paragraph, I was a bit confused for a moment. The confusion could be avoided if you added "as a solo" at the end of the sentence that begins "Frank wanted to do . . ."

I liked your dinner party story. Most of my favorites were there. I think Islands in the Stream is my favorite song. The night I learned to drink Tequila, I sang that song. You did a great job. Shirley

You did bring back some favorites. Nat King Cole in particular, and "Mona Lisa" is one of my favorites. You had to include the incomparable Frank Sinatra and Kate Smith. If she had sung only "God Bless America," Kate will be remembered. And Frank was such a versatile performer, a gifted actor as well as singer. I liked Princess Diana with Elton John. A great dinner guest line-up, especially since they'll be singing for the supper. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be surrounded by all those greats. This brings back great memories. judi

Judi, thank you for the six stars! I love your review, we must think a lot alike about some of the music. I will make sure and include you when I do another After Party. Terry.
-
You're welcome. That group would provide a memorable evening. Did you know they have tried to cancel Kate Smith because some of her early songs had--you guessed it--racist lyrics? Patti Page was one of my favorites too. judi
-
I love Patti Page. I did not know about Kate Smith.
Comment from Mary Vigasin
I truly enjoyed this dinner party with memories of some of my favorite artists: Sammy Davis, Kate Smith, Nate King Cole, and Jerry Butler.
Excellent job, and a great read. You could have easily just made it a list of celebrities; instead, you gave a charming and interesting evening that one enjoys being at the table.
Best regards,
Mary
