Great writing, dear friend :) I really enjoyed this one. This makes me think about all the things I wasted time on like worrying about things I had no control over. Life is too short to fuss over the small things.
My favorite part:
One day I looked within fate's glass,
and saw my life in days long past.
How futile are the hour's we've spent,
life wasted on time's costly rent.
Always your fan,
Shana :)

I'm pretty sure all of us have wasted a lot of our lives on thing that mean nothing in the light of eternity but I thing the Lord won't hold us accountable for things we asked forgivness for. The thief on the cross didn't have any hours left to make things right.

Yes God knows, understands, and thankfully does forgive, even our idle words, things we regret. Yet we do have to give account, and need to remember that in our daily walk.

I enjoyed this verse very much!
I appreciate the juxtaposition of humor
and faith.
The illustration is whimsical but the verse
has a serious undertone.
You explore how time is spent in our lives.
Whether positively or negatively, faith
can be your anchor.
Enjoy your Sunday!

I love your repeating line, "Life's wasted on time's costly rent." Time does take its toll. As you mention, we may waste time fretting over things that happened in the past. There will be a day of reconning for what we've said and done in the past. Beautiful rhyme and flow. Not quite sure what you mean by "on crushing flowers." judi

I'd hate to attempt to recount all the idle words I've used. It's a scary thought. Thank you for sharing this poem with us. It's again, a gentle reminder. I enjoyed the swamp and the rhymes.

I truly enjoyed the rhyme and the message about how we use and misuse idle words. It is a reminder to choose our words wisely.
A good way to begin my Sunday morning.
Blessings,
Mary

I have the exact same looking glass. Gee... she was me and so pretty. My, am I that old? It's nice to reminisce, but the one I love loves me as I am. Astonishing really. Sending you my best today as always,
