But I always thought I would see you again...is a beautiful refrain full of sadness as well as hope. Sheer chance bring people together and like passengers of a train journey they get down at different stations. I loved this

This is a fine pastiche poem in homage to James Taylor. He wrote some beautiful songs.

I like how you have captured the wish to see people again who were important to us at one time and still are.

And the knowledge that some point in time we will meet again.

Very, very nice.

I love the James Taylor song ... it's very emotional. I find that music helps bring emotions to the forefront .... at least for me.
Your poem has a sense of longing and loss that is moving.
I agree that friendship is priceless.
Well done!

Virtual six fr you, Janet! What a lovely poem and did remind me of fire and rain by James Taylor which I see you placed in your notes at the end. A friend is so important and we never know when we're together with the ones that we love and have relationships with. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. My philosophy is to seize the day and make sure people know that we love and care for them. That's as much as we can ask for, I suppose.
Sending along my very best to you and yours,
Sally XOs

I agree, carpe diem is an excellent motto and making sure those we love know that we love and care for them is so important.

"...once again" and "...see you again," are fantastic repeated lines in your poem. And you wrote so much heart around these repeated words. I liked the poem and the unique artwork you chosed.

Your poem touched me to my very soul. Like the James Taylor song brought up many emotions for you, your poem did the same for me. I live far away from so many important people in my life, and your poem was a balm for my longing for them. Lovely job. Each word you write flows effortlessly into the next. And your rhymes heighten your meaning which is nice. Too many times, rhymes block the sense of the poem.

Oh, I love that song! It brings up many emotions for me, as well. Your poem is well rhymed and your "once again" refrain ties it back to James Taylor's song...

How fortunate you got to see him in concert!

I watched his PBS special with him and Carole King...

Brilliant!

This is a great rewrite of those emotions. I enjoyed reading and knew you were giving a salute to the song as soon as I started reading. It was well-written and felt 'just right'. :)

I love this song and the plethora of emotions that I am flooded with when heard.

That is the magic of music. It is not only timeless, but hearing a song can take you back in time to the place you once heard it.

This is beautifully written and presented.

I did not need the autor notes to describe the underpinnings of this verse, because your emotions came shining through!

Well done!

Thank you Kay for this delightful review.
The Man in Black is one of my all-time favorites too. He wrote a song titled "As long as the grass shall grow" about an Indian village near where I am from in NW Pennsylvania. Seems George Washington signed a treaty with the Seneca Indians of the Iroquois Nation that they could keep their land "as long as the grass shall grow ". Of course, we broke that treaty and built a dam over their land. He deep voice does bring tears when he sings.

Thank you too for the special stars and prayers for my son.

    Blessings
