Yes, sometimes poets, book authors, and song writers--expecially the famous ones--use their creations as a means of TRASHING their parents.
Perhaps they should keep family matters within the family!! Also, sometimes, as you say, they LIE! Your poem is REALLY creative. You have make excellent use of the names of popular types of poems which might be used for these purposes!

This is something I have never even thought about, probably because my sons aren't writers. But it brought back memories of some of the things I wrote as a child.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Your choice of rhyming words was so whimsical, as you expressed the theme of this poem. Well done. Regards, Lilly

This is a witty poem about some of the many forms of poetry and topics your muse can lead you to.
You know you can do the same thing to your child within your poetry.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Thank you. I already have, and they have no clue.

No problem, Nomi. I have written about my children too. But it was just good stuff and I gave them copies. It was just about graduations and a wedding.
    Keep writing and stay healthy

Writing is difficult for me, Nomi. I wish it was more fun for me.
    Have a nice day.

I thought this was so inventive and clever! The only thing I'd suggest is to get rid of the commas in your lines "and you many never even know it." Other than that, you have a real winner here! It's crazy, to see how many formats poetry has, right?!

Yes. I did some research and I could have listed many more. I stopped where I did because I did not want to get into overkill.

This is a good poem about the creative and rebellious nature a child's poetry may be. However, whether he or she says it aloud or not at least they have an outlet to express their innermost thoughts. Sometimes that is enough.
For sure your text is large enough. I wish you had provided a visual of some sort. I looked up this word and could not find the meaning. What is a pantoum?

According to Google; The pantoum is a form of poetry similar to a villanelle in that there are repeating lines throughout the poem. It is composed of a series of quatrains; the second and fourth lines of each stanza are repeated as the first and third lines of the next stanza. I thought about you when I decided to increase the font size. I am pleased that you noticed.

Thanks for the definition. I did not Google it. I looked in my hardcover Webster. LOL Went old school. I appreciated the large font. Thanks for teaching me something new today. Have a blessed week!

Wow my friend this can be looked at as philosophical, educational, biographical or how I saw it, funological. I hope you don't mind me saying that I did find it deep at first, but enjoyed it so much and loved the fun rhymes that were at the end of each fun sentence. You gave me a much needed smile today! Thank you dear brother!

Excellent work! Not only could they write something untrue, they could also write something true that breaks your heart. This piece definitely made me think about what my children might write if they picked up the pen.

Thank you, It could serve as a cautionary thought. Who knows or can accurately predict which direction our child's talent may take off.

Nomi, I liked your poem. It is a good cadence about it. You also have a certain amount of fun as one smiles at the thought of the unknowing parent. You also mention some styles of poetry I have never heard about. Good job! Terry

and then they may not write about me at all, or you or anyone. Maybe they'll be an artist, a musician, or opera singer, anything to drive me out the door. I mean isn't that the purpose of children?

Absolutely. At heart, they are mostly agents of frustration for their parents. Then one day they become parents and they feel sorry for all the pain and agony they subjected us to, and they come around looking for hints on hw we dealt with them and their BS.
