Great words to have us writing parents consider about our children who also write. Yes, we don't have to take it hard if they write things that are not true. Loved all the internal rhymes you put in this like with "pantoum" and "consume" - you kept it lighthearted with some comforting truth.

Brilliant poem.

Love how you've included the names of different formats of poetry for different things.

Nice work.

I like this poem, its really fun to read. I'm truly hoping that my granddaughter becomes a poet, I wouldn't even care if she wrote about me...as long as she writes. Thank you for sharing. :)

Good morning!
What an interesting take on parenting - and so true!
I like much of this but didn't care for the way it was formatted. I guess I'm a traditionalist and think the rhymes should appear at the end of a line. lol
And you introduced me to a new form - pantoum. I'll have to look that one up.
~ They may write a senryu, to criticize >> not sure the comma is needed
I love the things you list that kids might write poems about. I think I did a few of those myself back in the long distant past! Sadly, I have no poets in my brood but maybe a grandchild will turn in that direction. :)
Thanks for the good morning read!
Blessings,
Deb

Thank you for your review. I met my paternal grand mother for the first time when I was 28 years old, and guess what. Not only did we write very similar styles of poetry, our favorite poet was one and the same, Paul Laurence Dunbar. How crazy is that?

Thank you for spotting me in the garden of poetry. I am a child hiding in the colorful sunset of aging. A late bloomer attempting to find ihis place in a flower garden overlooking the sounds of waves. A vivid poem, inspiring the elderly children walking around. Michael

Wow! I am impressed, blown away really. Your masterful use of words phrases and terms is thrilling and wonderful music to the eyes when viewed and music to the ears when read aloud. My hat is completely doffed to you in tribute.

I remember now you are very good at writing rhyming poems. I like the internal rhymes in this poem like:
Or a villanelle that doesn't sit well
A ballad about salad
Or a pantoum about what you consume

And most of the lines have internal rhymes.

Well done.

Thank you. The last line of your review indicates that you also know a thing or two about lines with internal rhymes.

Your poem is interesting. I enjoyed the rhyme, but more importantly the messages contained within.

Relativity comes from a myriad of material, experiences, and people. So the content of their poems could be directed toward anyone. If you're also a poet, there will always be the uncertainty of whom they are writing about.

Nicely done.

Hehe... I like your poem about being the parent of a poet. The funny thing is that you are a poet, did you write about your father when you were young? I write mostly about my grandson and all the poems are positive. I get where you are coming from, though.

Suggestions, change 'haiku' to 'senryu' because haiku is about nature and senryu is about human experiences. Also, make your font smaller, it's really big right now. It would look better.

Thanks for the heads up. I enlarged the font for a member who is sight challenged, they have already given their review so I can shrink the font.

This was fun but:

The trouble starts when they grow up
and write such verse as makes you throw up,
or or write free verse that's so pathetic,
cut up prose that's not poetic.
For them all my best advice is
Try using some poetic devices
