Wow! Your story illustrates how different cultures can be. I find it hard to believe the girl's father (?) did not thank YOU for rescuing her and threatened her with punishment. I have heard Saudi females are treated harshly by the males. Rod

A very appropriate story for this prompt, and well told. No words wasted.
How unfortunate for the little girl to be punished after such a traumatic incident. It would be easy to paint all Saudis by the example these parents. Still, we must not.

This story, Ungrateful, is listed as nonfiction, so I am saddened that this child had to live under this tyranny. Different customs can only cover so much understanding.

Perfectly written. This story, in so few words, shows how deep the gulf between cultures can be. As a westerner, I would expect a loving father first to be concerned for the safety and wellness of his daughter. It is hard to understand cultures that devalue women so much. I hope such practices don't overtake western cultural norms. The Woke will probably do so first.

Perfectly written. This story, in so few words, shows how deep the gulf between cultures can be.
