I like this poem a lot. It describes a scene that is beautiful, but illusionary. Ancient Chinese poets in the history looked up to the moon in the sky to worship it like one's hometown in his heart. They looked down on the moon in the water, unreliable and short-lived like a half-hearted lover. In the middle is the moon resting on tip of a tree branch.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I have never heard the term 'water moon'. I like the idea of it because it can be seen but not touched. I enjoyed reading this poem and want to wish you luck with the contest.

    Yes, I haven't heard .... water moon... either. It's a Chinese proverb.

Thank you very much , Barbara. Have a wonderful day.

Thank you for sharing and illustrating the "water moon" concept. I liked how it shows how the narrator's hope was sparked by the moon floating to shore but the illusion floats through the fingers.

Beautiful images in this one of warm summer breezes and water moon. The last line is intriguing, suggesting to me that somehow beauty seems to always just slip between our fingers.

That's soo true. I love the way you've taken a truism and run with it, making it a brilliant process of turning an metaphor into a story telling, this is an excellent Post, well done, blessings Roy
