Now this one I can sink my teeth into, having spent some 35 years working with the aged (until I became one of them!)--
I saw far too many sitting and gazing out at the world in just this way...
Now I fear that will be my place one day!

Ciao!
Your poem struck a chord.
My Mamma died in Dec. 2006 and that's when I started to think about the inevitable:death.
She died suddenly, less than 5 minutes and she was gone. that s the best way.
My papĂ s anniversary was on the 9th of sept ( 2017).
My best friends father died last Tuesday.
He had a painful , ugly death , he was like a living corpse.
It sucked the life out of Lucia . 14 months bed ridden and the last three weeks was literally hell. The church is to blame for all this unnecessary pain.
I m scared to died slowly like that or end up in a home . I don't have children , never married and my father was the last of my family.
I just hope I died hit by a car , something quick.
Keep safe!

Ciao, Amica,
I have the same fear and it creeps up from time to time. I try to push it away since I don't know when it will happen, seems like a waste of time... but I know what you mean. Dying while sleep would be the best. I want to be with family. I would be so sad if I end up in a rest home and dying alone.
Thank you very much for the exceptional six stars review, you are very kind. Ciao amica!

I volunteered for a time in a nursing home and have had relatives who passed away as residents. is the loneliness. I cannot think of a more heartbreaking, lonely existence.
Your poem is striking in words and presentation.
Best regards,
Mary

You are brave, I could not volunteer in a rest home, they are too sad for me. It's very kind of you to do it. You are brave.

Another fine poem, Gypsy, and a sad result that awaits too many of us. I got a taste of nursing home life after my accident, and to have that in my future makes me shudder

Hello, Mike, living in a resthome is one of my greatest fears. I plan to live into my 90s and I know it must be hard for my kids to keep me. I try to push those thoughts out. Who knows when I'll die.
Thank you very much for your time and kind review and helpfull feedback.

I think the worst things about rest homes is the loneliness. I know many residents never get visitors. I'm not sure why. Thank you for sharing this poem with us. I found it sad.

I like your poem- 5/7/5 Senryu- nice picture presentation- reminds of The Creation of Adam painting of old - good word count and connection- like the flavor of the rhyme- clever message- ' cruel thing to do- make me fall in love with you' - good job

You are an expert in Haiku or 5-7-5 poems and I have read many poems of yours I like. But in this one, I thought the word "love" was over used. Maybe try a different one in same meaning.
Well done.

I like the new version a lot, especially the alliterations.

It's true! Some people always are drawn to what they can't have. And some people are attracted to people they know are not good for them. Great way to describe this phenomenon in your 5-7-5!
