A fabulous Friday to you Terry I hope it finds you well. Another well told story. I couldn't agree with you more, the political landscape these days is out of control, hope we're not witnessing the slow death of democracy. That was a great last line. Great job!

A great and relevant message for all us.
The political climate has driven a chasm between the country, that unfortunately may never recover.
No matter what side of the coin you are on,
this is America!
I have not gotten over the fact that my and every woman in this country has lost their constitutional right to make a choice for her body. But that is for another time.
Nice piece of writing.

Hello Terry,
Nice piece of Non-Fiction having captivating flow throughout from the very beginning up to the end, and beautifully depicting your 'Journey of Ambition from a fireman, Mickey Mantle, Jim Brown, or JFK' to an ending as a thinker: Let's remember to be brave enough to let everyone live free in America.

I like the way you tell a story, Terry. You have a way with words that kept me reading and engaged with the story. The fact that it seems to be a reflection of personal experience makes it even better. This was very well done.

You have certainly met some interesting people. This is a good story about your history and gives me hope that there are still moderate people in the world.

I really enjoyed your story, Terry, from wanting to be a fireman, (many boys still do) to becoming the President of the United States. Now that is ambition! It's funny what we think would be an exciting career when we're young, and gradually changes as we age. I always wanted to write, but left it too late, I now write just for my pleasure and hopefully, those on FS. This was a fabulous piece of you writing, my friend. I enjoyed it lots. :)) Sandra xx

This is an interesting essay on the changing times in America and I liked how you through in these little brief chance associations you had with future presidents of the United States. I think it shows that they are really one of the people, one of us, and maybe it is a bit of a dig into how many times they seem to forget that. The world and the country have become less civil, more self centered, less patriotic and more self serving. It really is just a collection of special interests jockeying for money and power now. estory

I always wanted to write. My imagination grew but I never got there, maybe I will, one day. This is a very well told story and I found it very funny and entertaining. Thank you for sharing and have a great week.

This is a great write, Terry. When they were younger, my boys and I met George H #41 and Barbara at an outside restaurant in Perkins cove, Maine. I took them both right up to their table. They were sitting with the Oak Ridge Boys and George W's daughter. He was president at the time. My boys thought nothing of the experience then, but, later on, in years, are much more awestruck by the pictures. Sorry, I'm babbling but I thought it related to your piece in a way. Best, JohnC

An interesting memoir of your young life and aspirations, and now your reflections, as you note the changes. I like your last line, with the proviso that we should be free to live and love, and acknowledge differences, but not free to hurt or abuse.

Paragraph 5 needs to start a new sentence with "If I could be like him ...."
