Uncontrolled anger can be so destructive and many people have suffered terribly from it. Your Pantoum is excellent, Roy, you have managed expertly to bring your repeated lines down to make that fabulous last stanza. Very well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

I think that there is anger in all of us; it appears from time to time in most of us, providing a bloody cloak for us to wear. We can only hope to banish our anger so that we can carry on productive lives. Your poem is well written and touching. Evi

I have suffered through bouts of anger, so easily summoned. I have also suffered mightily trying to undo the harm cause by an act played out all in anger. I have found that it is much less costly to control one's emotions than it is to clean up the mess caused by a temper out of control. Since I have been on this site, I have written two Pantoums, and I feel that is quite enough, thank you very much.

Yes, anger sometimes gets the best of us. However, as the Scriptures bring out, we can let it all go at day's end and not let the sun set with anger in our hearts. We're not perfect, but we can work on shrugging off that cloak. Thank you for sharing something we can all relate to. I love pantoums!

I enjoyed your Pantoum, but I find it hard to imagine you being angry. I can't seem to ever remember being truly angry but I have been frustrated and hurt occasionally by the actions of others. Maybe that is more what you feel as well.

-Good artwork and nice presentation, Roy.
-A well written poem with a good topic.
-Effective imagery, rhyme, and repeating lines.
-I like the theme of the "angry cloak."
-The repeated lines work very well in the conclusion.
-I also like the nature imagery with ships caught in storms.
-Well done.

The Pantoum is one of my favorite forms. I've never seen you write a bad one...

You have that talent to braid the lines together yet manage a cohesive theme that is enhanced, not diminished, by the repetition.

Very nice!

Hi Roy,
this beautifully written poem hit an accord with me. I find sometimes this form of poetry can stall and not actually come to any valid point... but this Pantoum did.

It actually sounded like my life in a nutshell. In my youth I used pain as my driving force, which I thought was hate. Whilst a very powerful tool, it is just as this poem does... it repeats and entraps one in a vicious cycle of shame and regret.

So for me to say... "Hey Roy, this is my favorite line or verse." It would be a moot subject, as every line and verse flowed with clever composition.

Okay... if one survives, the rust still forms:)

Great work friend, enjoyed reading this fine piece of poetry.

With our thoughts we create...
the error of our ways.

Kind regards,
James.

What a marvelous poem! Those first two lines really grabbed me. I think it's part of the human condition to 'wear an angry cloak.' Some people are always angry, some people control their anger. Some people express their anger from time to time, but in differing degrees.

I loved the second line because it reflects that behind all anger is simply pain. The style of this poem, with its repetition, works well to seal the message. The metaphors you used are marvelous.

The cherry on the sunday for me was that you used what appears to be a dark grey background, as opposed to your usual black. It was much easier on my eyes. I'm not telling you what colors to choose, but I am mentioning it. Anyway, I couldn't possibly give you less than six stars for this extraordinary piece of work. Blessings, Lilly

This reads well with the repetition of lines in each stanza. Favorite line: "if one survives, the rust still forms.". The idea of wearing an angry cloak is thought provoking. Thanks for including the Biblical quotes. God's book is full of practical advice!
