The farmer had his limits. Once the goblins messed with his food order that was the final straw. A fun and delight full story for the contest. I admire anyone who can write a story with this limitation.
You did a great job.
Good luck in the contest
Best wishes
Mary

Thank you, Mary, for your review and all the stars--I appreciate your feedback. I find it quite challenging to do a decent flash story, so I'm glad to hear it worked in the end.
Originally the farmer was married, and his wife had a shopping list for five or six items. So, I had to cut out the wife and pare down the shopping list. LOL

Well, tea and gum will do that - make a convert of you, especially if you have a crave for the rum.
Well written. Good work.
Darned ol' goblins, anyway.
Best wishes.

You make me laugh. That prank was the "straw that broke the camel's back."
Thanks for the review, all the stars, and the good wishes.

Good luck in the contest. You did a good job of putting a complete story into 80 words, no easy task. I applaud you. I also like the injection of humor supplied by the goblins. Gave the story color that it needed while not inflating the word count, which I think is a good technique for the situation. I think you could things up a little more by using more paragraphs, there are some fairly natural breaks and it reads better, has a more natural flow, especially at the start. Enjoyed reading it.

Thanks for your detailed review, comments, and all the stars. Your suggestion may well tighten things up; however, I think the time for changes is passed. I am pleased that you enjoyed it--it was fun but challenging to write.

I was able to make a change based on your suggestion, and I think it is a better piece because of it.
    Thanks

I'm always in the mood for a good fairytale. If there's a farmer and goblins, that makes it even better. The farmer didn't have hair to pull, but the goblins still got him, by cheating him out of a nice juicy steak and a bottle of rum. Great story. Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks for the review, all the stars, comments, and best wishes. It took an unbelievable amount of time to craft that silly little 80-word tale, so I appreciate your feedback. It helps to keep me on the right track.

Your piece of flash fiction was funny and cute, to say the least. I liked the bald farmer ignoring the goblins until they messed with his shopping list. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you.

In the 80-word Flash-Fiction story Goblins at Work, the goblins are really only mild pranksters but manage to enrage the farmer by altering his shopping list so that he bought gum instead of rum. Now, if I was out of rum, I think I would know it and recall that fact unless he is forgetful. If the farmer is like me, he does not chew gum, and when he got home, he thought, "Why the hell did I want this?" LOL!

Thanks, Thomas, for your review, all the stars, and the laughable comments.
Yep, I think an exchange of gum for rum would be mighty infuriating.

W H A T the hay? I found this deliciously humorous because it had no direction, and still kept me entrance to the end. Poor farmer. He did not even have a name. Just farmer. Perhaps, that's best or tourist may be pesty wanting to see the goblins.

Thanks for the review and all the stars--loved your comments, too. Because of the limited word count, my poor farmer didn't get a name or even a wife!

There is always a way to get even if you're still in the game, goblins or n But I'll put my money on the old time farmer with the giant fanged dogs. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I see "tea" in "steak" and "rum" rhymes with "gum." So maybe the farmer has very bad handwriting. But if he ordered on Amazon, then I would blame the goblins. The farmer will not have to share his steak with the dogs. Best wishes in the contest!

Thanks for your review and comments. You're right; as long as those dogs get enough goblins, they won't be getting steak.
The goblins changed or altered the list by adding or changing letters.
