Write another one (if you've never won a contest) and enter it into that contest!
If you win that one you get a free scholarship to meter classes here on site!
(The meter doesn't have to be perfect for that contest--as learning that in class is the point!)

I liked the words you chose for the poem to establish the attitude of a winner. Honoring the past gave a strong lead for the poem to grow in strength. You made space for the reader to hope confidently. Thank you for a solid finish. Good work.

meter is all correct. However, that isn't required. Your
lines read smooth--those shorter lines sometimes don't
blend in well to carry the story. Your lines read smoothly
with great description and hopeful emotion displayed. The
image was perfect, too. Check punctuation on title.

This is an excellent post, a worthy entry in this contest, education is a great thing, but whether a particular teacher is good or not is purely subjective, the best teacher for me personally, I think actually liked me, and I responded. Accordingly, and did better than for any other teacher, his name was Davis, or Mr. to me. We done great language, great post, good rhyming and theme, well done Bro, good luck, blessings Roy
