Well, it's nice to know a deer can scratch their ear with a hind foot. Kind of like an old mare can scratch her butt on a fence post. And I can grab up a long-handled hair brush or long shoe horn to relieve my itching back. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Well, we all need to scratch where it itches. I just wasn't expecting her to scratch like a dog would. I didn't know that back legs were that well hinged so they could go that high. Hair brushes work for me too.

This poem, Can A Deer Scratch Their Ear?, is nicely put together and covers the topic as it arises from our efforts to alleviate our own animals' discomforts with pests. Great image .

You did a great job coming up with this poem based on the picture. I was just remarking that I loved the way my dog scratches her ear with her back foot. LOL. Your poem was fun. Thanks so much for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you Jess. I was surprised to see a deer scratch the same way that a dog would. A dogs leg seems a lot more flexible.

So, could we be related? Your thoughts penned here are thoughts similar to what I muse. When expressed, I am often asked, where did that come from? Like today, I writ but have not released a piece titled "Prithee please." I finished Othello yesterday, and therein prithee was often used.
What the hay?

Who knows? We could be related. I found out last week, I'm related to Henry VIII, but I've had no had a desire to cut off any heads. I'll be sure to check out "Prithee please" when you poste it. So you've wondered about what deer do when they need to scratch? Thanks for the review.

Or deers but fire ants that get stuck in the rain if they have life preservers or are Olympic swimmers

I enjoyed your poem. It's obvious you care for animals. We live in the midst of a city, but the deer still manage to drop by to see us and linger outside our window and pose for a picture.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I do like animals but the deer are very much afraid of people. This one couldn't see me taking her picture. I was inside taking it from window. Lately I've heard there are bears around but I've not seen one.

Nature has its own unique methods of allowing wild animals to come up with ways to survive.

This must have been an awesome picture to take getting that close to a deer without spooking it into running off before you snapped the photograph.

As Stanza One indicates our pets know the care they will receive in our homes, including medications to prevent scratching caused by pests like ticks, fleas, and so forth.

Fortunately, wild animals have a higher power looking out for them.

I wasn't that close. I was inside taking it though a window and using the the lens to bring her closers. If she had seen me she'd have been gone in a flash. I took about ten shots, but this one was the funniest. Thanks for a great review.

LOL I enjoyed reading this contest entry and never thought about bug and wildlife. I am so sorry I did not. I guess you're right. God would take care of them. This was a very musical poem. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

I didn't think about it either until I saw her doing this with her back foot. I would have assume they rub up against a tree. Thanks for the review. I'm glad you liked the poem.

Lovely picture. Deer are beautiful creatures and I have been told they can do amazing things with their legs. That is to say they can move them in unlikely positions. This was a cute poem, well done, Beth. Good luck. Nancy:)

Thank you Nancy. I took pictures of this one from a dark window and she couldn't see me or she would have fled. I have them in my yard a lot. Yesterday there were two tiny fawns running as fast as rabbits. They were so cute.
