If only we could fly with the geese and enjoy the views and I could identify with your words here, a well metered and rhymes poem for the contest, love Dolly x

In the poem Follow That Flock, the poet laments that he cannot travel south with the geese in the winter to the Everglades of Florida and share their fun. I live in Broward County, Florida, one mile east of the Everglades. So, don't worry. I'm here to greet them when they arrive. There's plenty of room, as the herons are thin and don't take up much space. The geese will need to watch out for the pythons!

Wow! I can?t imagine what it would be like living that close to the Everglades. Exciting for sure. Many thanks, Thomas, for sharing my poem.

Very well done, but I need ask what kind of geese have you? Like in the picture? They look like ours here in Western North Carolina but ours never leave. They have taken permanent residence on our golf course.

Thank you for sharing and praising my poem, Tom. We have many Canadian geese (like those in the picture) where I live. Like you, many choose to stay all year round, but I love to see the huge flights that often fly overhead.

A noticeable storytelling quality in this poem.

Sparkling in your poem:
-Theme that some may be bound by duty while others are free as birds.
-Shared introspect
-A wistful poem
-My favourite lines: the first stanza.

Ah, to be a bird. To be able to fly at will and so freely. You know life is not over. You write your destiny as much as anyone. If you want to travel before you kick it, you'll find a way!

Thank you, Liz, for sharing my poem. Yes, I do have my bucket list of places I would like to visit. But I do envy those geese who can fly there NOW.

This is a good entry to the rhyming poem contest. The rhyme scheme was consistent throughout. the text was large and easy to read. Your message is stated clearly. The visual fits perfectly. The text appears a bit faint. It may be better to make it bold so it will be more pronounced. Good luck in the contest.

What a great entry for this contest. I can sympathize with you. When my husband was alive we loved to travel in the fall and I miss that so much. All of our travels have been curtailed the last three years, so this poem resonates with us all.

I am so pleased my poem resonates with you, Anne. Because my wife and I are caretakers for her 101 year-old mother, we don?t travel either.

I love your phrase of being yoked to farming chores... The imagery is beautiful. I'm very familiar with Maryland Virginia and Delaware in the east there... You took the reader to another place... Very well done.

This is very good. I has the nature feel that older FanStory members really seems to like and prefer. I would look at some o f the coma placements again. But, I like what you have. Good luck in the contest.
