If I had a six left you would have gotten it. I laughed out loud. I think a dog yelped when I did. Just the other day my sister Lynda and I ( I just got here you know) got all snarled up looking for a thrift store. First we went Hope Center. That was a charity, but no store, Then we for the right address but It was not there. We called her friend Martha, it was right behind the dollar tree we go to every week! :-) Karen

Thank you for going back and reading some of my earlier writings.

Hi Barbara, I know how you
feel, I have no sense of direction either. This is a very
humorous story written with
fineness. I loved reading it.
I'm also a technophobe. My
daughter helps me with sending out poetry on the
computer. I'd be lost without
her. Blessings and hugs. ~

This rings true with me also. My problem is once I get to my destination and get ready to go back, I just keep going forward. I do say bless Google Maps. I enjoyed reading your story. I especially liked throwing the map out the window.

I struggle with the return myself. LOL Thank you for the support.

I understand, as Charley Harper would say, sounding empathetic, which I'm usually not. Had the contest allowed it, I would suggest you end the entry with the first epic, epic. I found several lines comical, especially " "Maybe we need to go in the opposite direction."

"I understand."

I truly enjoyed your contest entry. Before Google maps, I rode around endlessly some times never reaching my final destination.
The only comment I have is the last sentence. I thought it needed a little punch.
Otherwise this should be a contender.
Best wishes
Mary

can totally empathise with you since I am really a stupid where directions are concerned. If I walk or travel by bus many times in the same direction ,then I learn the way ."But you have gone that way many times, what do you do in the car" my friend once asked exasperated .I said 'I sit '.I don't drive .My husband or my sons do that.

Hello Barbara.Wilkey,
Nice piece of Biographical Non-Fiction having captivating flow from the very beginning up to the end, and depicting 'your generally getting lost' in a very interesting way.
All the episodes from throwing away the 'Location Map' to using 'Google Map' - the last sentence of each paragraph - are particularly noteworthy.
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.

That is a funny look at those who are often lost along all of life's highways and side roads. It is well written and enjoyable. Glad you found Google maps at last! The picture is cute. Best of luck in the contest. Evi

I certainly can relate to this. My way of coping has been to stop attempting to drive to new places. Even that gadget on the phone that tells you 'turn right unto so and so' is sometimes wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this! Regards, Lilly

Thank you, very entertaining. You should meet my wife, she is equally geographically challenged. I was very proud when she got to Malaga and back on her own to visit her daughter. She is terrified of airports.
My method is to imagine that you are driving on the map in a little car. Then you shouldn't have to turn the map around - as long as you can work out left and right upside-down!
