Great free verse. I really enjoy the flow and the woe of the story's main character. Your words paint a perfect picture for the reader to visualize. And you taught me a new word -stridulous. Thanks for that. Good job. Keep writing.

I think we all know that lovely balloon, unless rescued, will not be around for long. First will be the shock when it pops, then will come the terrified screaming as a result of first the explosion, then the sorrow over the loss of a brand new friend/plaything. Kids, you just gotta love em'

Very colorful interpretation of a common entertainment. But the part many miss, is the part where it ends up in a child's hand. When will it pop? I don't know about phobia, but it can sure set someone on edge.

This is a very well written poem you have penned about Balloon animals for the phobia writing prompt. You used very good descriptive words and great imagery from the art work you chose. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

I like picture. It matches what the poem says.

It is more a personal taste... I don't like the fonts of words. To me, it is distracting and it didn't do anything to me...
I am debating whether it should be a four or five.
After reading it the second time, I gave it a five.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes! I can certainly relate to the feelings you so cleverly describe and creatively present in this free verse poem. I don't even like to watch balloon artists create their twisted masterpieces. But when a child is given one, you can be sure their delight will turn to tears as soon as it pops and scares us ALL! This is cute, and fun and sensible and should do well in the contest. I wish you the best of luck. MM

Your poem is well done. That is an interesting phobia, shaped balloons. I suppose you know what is going to happen as the child is given the balloon dog. Eventually, it is going to pop and make a loud noise. good entry for the contest.

That's so unusual to have a fear of balloon animals. But as your poem describes the tenseness and anxiety about a balloon ready to pop at any moment, I can see your point! Fun entry for the contest! Best wishes!

"Balloon Animals" is a poem about the poet's phobia. But fear is about the unknown. The only unknown here is WHEN the child will pop it, not if the child will pop it. So, fear not! It will pop. You can relax. All is foretold.
