I wish I had a six this was absolutely glorious. I loved the topic. My momma mainlined John Wayne. I must have seen "Hellfighters" more than a dozen times. You tell a good tale. And, the ending, what a life he led. I feel incredibly dull at the moment. haha
I forget, Did you read "Moving Day"?

You have the widest group of acquaintances and friends I have ever heard of. The only ones I know are a nasty romance writer, the brother of Jack Ruby, and the crazy sister of James Earl Ray who used to get picked up for walking naked through town dragging her cross. I actually remember your friend Ray's interview on Today and thought he was a hero then. As a friend he sounds a little scary. Obviously, he was too onery to die for good of a motorcycle accident.

What a friend! Your life is just as colorful for the people you befriended and allowed in your personal space. This was a great read. It was written clearly, and there were several moments i had to chuckle. The motorcycle accident was one. What a guy. Thanks for sharing.

This was an amazing story! It sounds like your friend Ray was quite a character. I was especially amused by the story of his death(s), but I am not happy that your friend died. Thank you so much for sharing, and best wishes to you once again.

I hope these remembrances are going into a book. I love to hear stories about people who have lived exciting lives and it sure sounds like Ray was one of those characters. Keep these stories coming.

Gretchen, thank you for reading and for your very kind review. At some point, I may put all the stories in a book, no immediate plans. I am the last of the family, so there isn't anyone to leave it to.

Leave it to your fans. You are a natural born storyteller.

Interesting story about your friend, seems like he punched first, then asked questions later. What a horrible accident to have happened on a motorcycle. And he survived!!

You seem to have known a lot of characters in your day, Terry, and Ray is certainly one of them. What an interesting fellow. I wonder how his wife felt about all his risk taking and sometimes unbridled temper. Well done.

Judy, thank you for reading. He was interesting. His wife, in the early years, loved the life Ray's income afforded her. She came from a poor, broken family. She could be pretty wild herself. In her fifties, she found AA, found Jesus, and got close to her daughter and grandkids. She is still around in her late seventies. Thank you for the review. Terry.

You have lived an exciting life with many interesting people, Terry, and your stories always shine from that very wheelhouse. There is nothing like writing what you know, and you have done that with excellence and respect for your subjects. Great stuff! Best, JohnC

Ray appeared to be a rare individual and one who needed a few sessions of anger management. He seemed to be a daredevil that took him into his senior years.
Why did you not capitalized jean?

Thank you for reading and for reviewing. I did capitalize Jean, it may look funny, but it is capitalized. Terry

What's a "natural cause" of death after a motorcycle accident?? And God was definitely watching over him with pool friends hounded by undercover cops and punching out Saudi police! Now that's a colorful character! I think there was a flash fiction challenge for that but you told it just fine your way! I was in Houston for six years (long enough to become naturalized) and I worked for an oil company in the late 1980s. I heard some awful stories from colleagues who went to Saudi.
