I like the premise of this poem very much. The first and last lines are spot on. However, I feel the middle line could be strengthened by remplacing some of:
then-up-to
e.g: rises swiftly to explore (there must be better options). Kate xx

This is a well-written 5-7-5 poem. I like the message. We all need hopeful moments in this old world. I think the text would be more prominent a tad larger, bold and centered on the visual. The visual fits well. Good luck in the contest.
