That was excellent, it read like non-fiction, too. I love the way you brought us through the expenses, then the fears and worries of if it would be a success or not, and all those pregnancies. Lol. At least by the end of the story, we see a man who managed to work through those fears, is rich, confident and well able to do the job and teach others. Very well done. A very enjoyable story. :)) Sandra xx

I agree, sometimes fear will move mountains and motivate one to scale new adventures with zest and bravado, This I believe is what Jimmy achieved in this fiction. The question what could go wrong becomes the thread that connected all the events happening in this piece. Thanks for sharing.

Well done. Well written.
I had a skylight (tinted) in a house I had built in Arkansas. I had to cover it because of the magnified sunlight. The carpet beneath would burn your feet. And the A/C couldn't keep up.

It was double pane and tinted. I think maybe the convex was backwards, making the room paper under a microscope. lol

Jim showed us himself, with his list, all that could go wrong...and yet he powered through. (My husband and I like to call that "being a bulldozer." We say that to our kids often ''"Be a bulldozer."-- and they're old enough now to admit it helps.)
Also, though, the Jewish Mommie in me thinks his Worry List contributed to Jim's success. The saying that ascribes to that is: A day without Worry means you simply did not try hard enough.

A fine story. Some people do become so obsessed with potential problems that they never succeed at anything, as fear holds them back. Good on him for making it work, overcoming the potential pitfalls, and a delightful twist at the end. Well written.

Terry, I swear you put out your best on a Saturday Night / early Sunday Morning.
I bet you never ask yourself, what could go wrong. Lol! I was starting to become the type of person that I try so hard not to be; a pessimist. With Jimmy thinking in his head over and over, "what could go wrong" and putting down that much bourbon, I was afraid he was going to (as my husband would say) wake up dead.
You had me all prepared for the letdown, reeled me in and at the last minute, catch and release. Dang, I love that kind of story. Especially with her just telling that she was pregnant! This was fun, lots of fun to read. I enjoyed the beginning, as I remember those days that we lived with the high interest rates. I think we were paying 13% on our house payments, so living with Mr Practical. I worked nights, he worked days and we went without a lot to pay off as much on our principal every month that we could. We did it in five years and burned the mortgage for ever. Anyway... our kids have no clue what could hit them someday. I have a feeling that they are thinking, what could go wrong? Loved this story, loved that you got that school of hard knocks in there, and loved that it all worked out....
And I do know that it is fiction, but you write so darn well that I keep forgetting that.
So thank you once again for this superb story with an amazing ending.

I apologize that I spelled Zoe's name wrong. I looked just a bit ago to see what the name of your Doris Day story was. And that is when I realized that and also that you were married about 2 months after we were. I won't forget now as you were married in 74 for 44 years. Gosh I hope I don't make it worse by talking about her, but I know how I hate it when people avoid talking about the loved ones I lost.
