I truly appreciate this poem for a couple of reasons. It is well written in three perfectly rhymed lines and syllable count 5-7-5, and certainly describes the painting to a T. But I appreciate it also for the simple reason it called my attention to a work of art that was not familiar to me, a very important work too. Though I've never been a huge fan of Picasso, his work is important in the Art World and I think this painting does an excellent job of illustrating the horrors of war. I'm so glad you gave that additional information in your author notes. Fascinating stuff. Thanks for the poem and congratulations for winning a prize for it. MM

This 5-7-5, Ode to Personal Beliefs, has the proper formatting and gives the readers a quick art and history lesson along with the reminder that art transcends cultures.

Thank you for your very informative notes, as well as for presenting an interesting and meaningful ode to the artwork. It is stark but makes a valid point through the medium of art. Well chosen, and well written. best wishes for your entry.

Of all the differing forms of poetry all the shorts one are hard to write a review for as what more can be said about 12, 17 or twenty one syllables piece of work other than well done.

The older I became looking at Art changed. Those pictures usually depicted true events, which my young mind was unaware of the truth. As an adult, I see much more art full of non-fiction. And it is a totally different feeling. Ones of grief and empathy.

I do recognize this painting. My exposure to Picasso art has always been one of "Whaaaaat? Why?" I would hate to see some of his live models, especially if they looked anything like his paintings. But this one does tell a story. Even though there are the familiar distorted features and characters, it seems to fit with the theme of the painting.
Your verse captures what must have inspired Picasso to paint this one as well. Very nice.

I think one of the things Picasso excels at, especially in this painting, is expressions - just the faces of every creature involved tell us all we need to know. I love your poetic analysis of how it makes you feel - as you say, not one to enjoy looking at, but definitely one to admire.

I have painted this scene in water colours and it hands on my wall. This painting is vivid and tells the story of war and the suffering of the people. A poignant write, love Dolly x

A well formed opinion of the impact of the picture. The flow is good. The words are harsh as is appropriate. The syllable count is good.
Thanks for a good read.

This is fantastic. The choice of artist, the choice of painting, the sentiment it carries, the specific words you chose, and the overall presentation. Bravo! I smell a winner. ;)
I've got to revisit my entry and step up my game, lol.
Take care,
Erika
