I bought a reproduction of this painting in Chicago at a "starving artist" convention. The repro is as seductive as the real thing. I never thought of it as "confusion", but it is clear that is what it can easily be identified as.

I do wonder sometimes whether Western societies are disappearing up their own bottoms, so desperate for fairness and understanding and a desire to please everyone that in the end, nobody is pleased, and the world of opportunity becomes one of abject chaos.

This also is one of my favourite paintings. I was going to write about it but I see another poet has entered it too! - a favourite of many; a very powerful painting.
Your interpretation cleverly draws on your knowledge of Vincent's personal struggles, linking the 'land of confusion' depicted in his painting with his emotional and mental distress.
