Vincent van Gogh is one of my most favourite painters. Your poem captures the mental unease of the artist, where outward appearances can be deceptive. Vincent's inner turmoil was too much for him.
(I think the comma after 'portrait' is unnecessary.)

Mystery Author. Good job with the syllable count per
line. I liked the alliteration of the letter s. Yes, Van Gogh
was a troubled artist, though he's famous now.

He like some took his grief to the worst and final end in suicide.
