Oh no! That's a phone call that no parent wants. My father-in-law told his kids, he would bring them their toothbrush if he ever got that call. Best wishes in the contest!

We were poor, we couldn't afford toothbrushes. We used salt on sandpaper. Thank you for reviewing my offering.

Yikes! That would scrape off your tooth enamel!

My dad traded enamel for beer.

Totally untrue!! But it sounded good.

Hello mystery writer, I usually don't review these right away when I am trying to read through all of them to vote. However I was having kind of a day and sat down to read all the many entries before I voted. So I read yours, and then I looked at it again, and just cracked up laughing. All of a sudden things didn't seem too bad. Now I don't know if this really happened or if it was just Brilliant writing and imagination, but I found it delightful. However if you were the mum that if happened, I am very sorry for your misfortune. Either way if was a wonderful entry for this prompt and kudos to you for your creativity.

I confess, it wasn't fiction, it was an absolute distortion of fact. My Mum, God rest her soul, would have called it a blatant bloody lie. I told her I preferred the expression, creative writing. She labelled it Moo Poo, that's the feminine form of Bull...t.

You got a chuckle out of me with this poem. I am lucky enough to have never been in this situation. Thank you for sharing this here, and best wishes to you.

Lol, I think you could put this in one of those contests about telling a story in only a few words. You subvert the initial expectation and generate some fun intrigue!

One of the good things about getting old is remembering the not so good things that put years on your parent's lives. Thank God, they didn't know

It's excellent, in 3-7-5 you have spoken the right order of expression, clear and important, the point of order is orderly, you ask for help from your mother is in point, now you need your mother's help, pay for your bail; well said, well done, post god speed more, share post not 4 self-joy-pride but 4 God and readers worldwide Alcreator Litt Dear (DR)

Thank you for taking the time to review my work. I've not attempted one of these 3-5-7 contests before, so this is purely experimental. That's the best excuse I can offer.

This is interesting to me because it opens up a wide field in only fifteen syllables, no easy thing to do. First there is what is the type of relationship between mother and son. It doesn't seem to be an easy loving one. He has to beg for help. No guarantee of assistnce is indicated. Second there is the reason for the bail. I sense an idiotic act of violence and greed, such as a hold-up. As I wrote, interesting to have my imagination woken up...

Thank you. As a victim of five armed hold-ups, I'm not sure that's something I could write about. It's a very frightening experience. One best forgotten.
