These stanzas encompass excellent advice for making our way through life, recognizing the highs and lows 'where sadness lurks and good things grow'-exudes optimism

You always write poems that are full of good advice, Jaybird, and I'm sure you have cupboards overflowing with them that you've acquired over your full life. This is no exception. Each day is a page in life's diary. I really enjoyed reading your poem. Well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Truer words may not have been written yet ... you capture the very essence of a writer's soul in this poem. Your lines tell both sides of the tale. I try to save my poetry for the next generations to come ... never knowing whether it will be found, or read. I think yours will be known.

love this traditional poem about love like this stanza the best

Just write your life and you will know,
where sadness lurks and good things grow.
You'll see the sweet and bitter tears,
that traveled with you, through the years.

Each page you write will remind thee-
That acts of love are always free.

Very nice poem! Your rhymes are spot on, and the poem flows nicely with good rhythm and meter. Plus, the subject matter cannot be argued with. Love is really what life is all about, isn't it? Nice work!

Ciao poet!

Life has its up and downs , failures and successes, laughs and tears.

If life was always bright, it would get boring, dull.

After resolving a problem we appreciate more the good times.

Keep safe!

Words of truth. The things we do for others, from our heart, are the things that will stay with us, and them, forever. And what's even better, they really are free.

Nicely worded.

I liked reading this poem very much. It might be because I am condensing several years' worth of journal entries way down. What a neat way to think of writing a life history. Favorite lines are: Just write your life and you will know,
where sadness lurks and good things grow.
And also: Each page you write will remind thee-
That acts of love are always free.
Thanks for posting this poem.

Jaybird 1's poem," Love is the Better Way," advises the reader that love will be the most rewarding thing he or she can choose in life. That argument is hard to object to, and the author makes assertions throughout the poem that support his eponymous theme. (I'm using that word a lot to keep it functional within my dwindling vocab. It means related to a name.) It's a prayer-like poem, not as good (contrary to its "All Time Best" recognition) as other poems I've read by him. The poem's tetrameter assumes a sing-song, instructive lilt that's musically attractive but doesn't support the importance of the theme adequately.

Jaybird, life is hard no matter which direction we go.
How we handle our ups and downs will, for the most
part, determine the life we live. Good work. Willie
