This almost sounds like it could be unrequited love of a man you only know his traits. But you say it is about a friend in the description.
I like the repetition for it enhances the emotion of the poem.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Well, I guess his face sounds like a nice place to start and at least he isn't a stranger. Although, sometimes, getting to know a stranger doesn't come with all the typical baggage, or we don't know about it. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

This lovely poem you wrote for a friend begs the question of just how well we know one another. We may not know someone by name - but instinctively know who they are and what they're thinking. I picture passengers on a train who commute day in and day out without ever actually speaking to each other. And yet they somehow have come to know one another...
I enjoyed this piece.

I have reviewed hundreds if not thousands of pieces and for whatever reason the style here is the first time, I can recall with a certain form familiar to me and yet unrecallable as to who writes that way. Are you acquainted with a writer with this rhymical style?

I?m afraid not. I really didn?t know I had a style until I found Ekphrastic free verse. A friend here told me about it and I then realized how pictures speak to me. The author here was Mystic Angel.
Thank you for the lovely chat and review of my work.

I get the feeling that you don't know him at all yet, but you will recognize him when you see him, or should I say if you see him. He sounds a bit too good to be true really, but I like the poem.

Your refrain stanza does a great job of keeping this anchored, and you use the pauses in between to fill in detail and help us understand the infatuation. Very well written - I enjoyed.

Your original presentation, a poem written within art, is most impressive!
It (literally) frames your free verse and lends a deeper meaning, in my opinion. There is a kind of magic to knowing a person from his bearing, from the "curve of his face"-- the name falls away and becomes unnecessary. To admire from afar is a special journey!

How fascinating Missy, I love the way you've done, contained the artwork within the artwork, sort of like a shot out of a film like Casablanca, is incredible, well done my friend, great entry. Good luck, good to see you again, blessings Roy
