Congratulations on your win. This is a delightful and fun poem. One that many of us can identify with. Timely, as I am about to take my shopping bag full of mismatches and work at matching. I will be thinking of your poem.
Best wishes,
Mary

This is a cute poem. Every home has one of these. My lives inside washing machine or drying. I'm not sure which. Maybe there are two of them. I got a chuckle from this poem.

Haha, what a fun contest entry, Verna. I enjoyed reading it and
got a good laugh. Your personification of the sock eater was fun.
I could see it sneaking around grabbing a sock and running away
with it to its secret stash. Your couplets read well with good rhymes
and great imagery. The art choice is perfect.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes, Jan

I have a pile of socks that need the other sock to pair them up! The washing machine is hungry for socks and eats them all, a fun post Verna, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

This poem is funny but true. The washing machine is great and making socks disappear. Then they suddenly reappear where the wouldn't normally be.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Hah! I've got the same sock monster here! It's all good though...
Apparently, for every sock he steals, he leaves an extra wire hanger to tangle and jangle in my closet and makes me grit my teeth! I joke to my husband that our washing machine runs on electricity---oh, and a minimum of ONE sock per load! (If the washer doesn't grab it the dryer will!)

(And why on earth would it be that it's only when we finally throw out that mismatched pile of socks the "matches" magically reappear!

I'm chuckling at this one...and wearing one blue sock and one white!

Thank you for a delightful review, Karenina. Same thing is true with one earring. I've been holding out for two years for a lost one.

Yes! Or just the earring "back" -- where ever do they run off too!

    Smile.

Verna,
What a delicious tribute to that clever devious sneaky silent Sock-eater, and full of that special humor of your palate. Delightful. Keep em comin!

Yep, it seems every pair of mismatched socks I wear I have another pair just like it, someplace at home. Must be the sock eater has stricken again.

Cute rhyme that addresses a real to life problem.

This is a well-written entry. The rhyme scheme is on point. It's funny/witty. The visual fits well. The only two things I can suggest, is to make the font size larger and the background or font more colorful. This is a fun-loving poem, and a gray background doesn't fit that mood. Good luck!

You have solved the mystery that has baffled me since childhood. As a mature adult, I thought I had the problem solved by wearing only white socks. Once paired up, though, there is always one sock left without a mate. I am going to invent a sock eater trap and become a billionaire. Thank you.

Isn't it fun some times to write about a problem that isn't really a big problem?
