The sad past of Abbie

It took three months for a dog we were given to adjust to us. The dog did not bark for those months. Finally, he became a happy dog. The dog missed the previous family. It was heartbreaking. Abbie has been through much. And she trusts your sister. Hopefully, she will come around to enjoy life again.

It's so sad to encounter animals who've been treated unkindly, and their heartbreaking behaviour. I'm sure, with love and patience, Abbie will come to understand she's found a better home and can learn to feel joy.

That was a very touching piece and I am glad that I took the time to read it. You have a sentence "She was rescued by my sister and her husband, Abbie, after having nine litters; she was put in an animal shelter" and for me it is confusing. For me it reads that the husband's name is Abbie and someone had nine litters. How about if you rearranged and said 'After having nine litters, Abbie was rescued by my sister and her husband.'

Thank you for the review. I did struggle with that sentence and based on your suggestion, modified it.
    Thank you

It's so sad, they need closeness, as a social animal, they are dependant on the next best thing to a pack, which is a family. We have a Moodle, cross between a Maltese terrier and a poodle, and he is very dependant, sleeps with us, and needs people, especially children. Our grandchildren adore him. I hope she settles, bless you Mary, Roy

Thank you Roy for your review. I do hope that Abbie comes out of her shell. I know Toby the other dog would love to play with her.

You described Abbie well, Mary. I'm so happy she has a forever
home away from her earlier life. What a sad experience for her
becoming lost. As far as bonding with the other dog, I would hope
that works soon. Maybe you could borrow two dog crates and put
one of them in each for a couple nights. When my sister's cat was
new, she had to go to the vet at the same time another one of her
kitties was there. They spent their time next to each other in their
crates and seemed to have bonded. When they got home it seemed
they were friends and enjoyed each other. I have a rescue kitty named Abby.
Thanks for sharing, Jan
