Hi Mary!

I was traipsing through your writings enjoying a relaxing evening when I discovered an injustice. Poor Abbie deserves a six star rating. Being review number 25 is a bonus! So I gave Abbie a super rare Saturday night six star. Tomorrow FS will be flush with sixers being tossed around like candy. But not tonight!

I hope she has finally adjusted to home life and gets to enjoy the rest of her life.

Thank you for your generous six stars, I appreciate it. I often ask about Abbie and how she is doing. She seems to be adjusting pretty well, my sister says she does see Abbie's confidence improving little by little. While she still wants to be leashed to my sister when at her daughter's house, her leash length is getting longer and longer.

What a sad story. She was used a chattel by the breeders. Shameful. In time I hoped it worked out. Reminds me of an Old English given to us that was near blind and invaded with stomach cancer. we only had her a short time. She was precious but had to be put to rest shortly after joining our younger male sheepdog.

Thank you, Tom, for your review and kind wishes for Abbie. Dogs in a tough situation and getting rest, even for a short time like your Old English tend to stay with us.
    Best wishes and regards,

I love poodles and had a toy poodle that lived twenty plus years. They can be highly protective because they are high strung. Dogs are like humans and can process their terrors the same. I will be praying for this dear creature. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the challenge

I enjoyed reading this story.
As a dog lover and owner, it was easy for me to connect.
I feel sad that she hasn't get gotten comfortable in her forever home, hopefully with diligence of the family and consistency in the home, she will eventually feel safe and comfortable.
The author notes state that the photo is not Abby, they are incredibly adorable dogs.
I have a blonde lab named Sienna, she is 9 yr. old and is my support animal.
Great story, thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your review. I appreciate your kind words and hopes for Abbie.
I came as close as I could show what the real Abbie looks like. Her housemate is named Toby, he is the same breed, large poodle and is well-behaved..
    Best wishes,

This is a really good story about Abbie and give me a clue what may have happened to our rescue before we got her. We've never had a cage but she wants to be in our small RV. She was pregnant not long before we got her, was filthy and covered with fleas, ticks, and dirt. She is afraid of the dark, loud voices, screaming kids, and pretty much everything. I'm so glad you wrote this sweet story because it helps me understand Roxie better.

Your story makes distressing reading - "What is left is a dog terrified of life and her surroundings". Puppy-farming such as this where Abbie was exploited for financial gain then tossed aside is purely animal abuse.
Abbie will certainly need patience and love to reconnect with normal bonds of companionship, both with her fellow dog resident and humans.
Your story is written with compassion and concern, conveying your feelings well.

Thank you for your review and kind comments. I appreciate it very much. I am sure that homing Abbie will also have a positive influence on my sister, who is not known for having patience. Both may gain much being together.

This is a sad story of a dog who has outlived her intended purpose, and is reluctant to accept love. It's hard to believe a dog could live for nine years without ever having a home. It may be difficult, but I know your sister extends Abbie extra protection, care and love.

Aw, that is so sad! Those breeders, (I have another name for them) should be ashamed of themselves. They used this gentle dog to make them rich and then discarded her. Bless her. I'm glad she is with your sister and that she will love her always. Perhaps one day she will bond with your brother-in-law. Sad, but sweet story, Mary. Warm hugs, Sandra xx

Poor Abbie has lived such a sad and terrible life. I am glad she has found a forever home where people will love and be patient with her. I will say a prayer for Abbie. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you.

This was so sad, and it breaks my heart to hear of a dog being used and abused for people's greed. I do pray they will all continue to show love and care for her. I am sure she will respond in time to their efforts. Poor sweet darling. Well written story for the club.
