The Moody family seal unique. Some things noted:

-Suppose it would be interesting to go back and learn your family history. I have not researched any relations I may have. None of them have ever attempted to contact me either. The only relative I am aware of is the man who adopted me in a Wal-Mart parking lot when I was twelve years old. I relayed this story in my autobiography Unwanted Dog. Unfortunately, he has been gone for 16 years. At this stage in my life so be it.

-"king on a throne" is a cliche. However, the expression works well here.

-If his name is Shadrach, a question that was not answered in your posting would be, is why do the census records list him as Nelson?

-"great grandfather Elias Davis" should be great-grandfather. There is another place later in your posting that list "great grandfather" and should also be "great-grandfather".

-Starting at "The family moved from" to "country doctor" is a run-on sentence. May suggest end the first sentence at "later to Mississippi". Then, make "One of their daughters" to "chapter about earlier" a second sentence. Two concise sentences would read better than the run-on sentence does.

-Back in the day of horse and buggy, as you pointed out, if someone moved away that could well be the last time relatives ever saw them.

-The comparisons of your Moody line, and Dwight L. Moody's line, are interesting.

Thank you for reading my story. I can understand if you don't know anything about your biological family and if your were abandoned how your might not care to. I'd be too curious as to why but It's your decision. I want to go back a read your story. Thanks for the help you're giving me with run on sentences and other things. As to why Shadrach was listed as Nelson evidently preferred his second given name and that is what he gave the census taker. They went with you told them. You'd definitely find out a lot about your past by having your DNA done. But maybe you'd rather not know. Thanks again.

When it comes to outspoken and memorable names of preachers and speakers who would stand out in any crowd, two name come to mind for me, B.R. Lakin and D.L. Moody. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the review. I had to go far back to find a connection but I didn't know another Moody that everyone has likely heard off.

What an interesting family history you have, Beth! If mine was that involved, I'd be spending my whole time on my computer, ever searching, which seems to be what you're doing. :) Amazing work!

A few little typos: "they arrived at different dates and a(at) different ports,..."

"Perhaps that Edward (was) knighted for his deed."

"You will find well-known people having this name in almost every imaginable field.(, such) Such as medicine, art, music," - all one sentence.

What a lot of research - and what an interesting family tree. It is fascinating to trace the generations, and see character and personality traits and interests reappearing at various times. Well done.

How cool is that! There may be some link to Dwight Moody, the famous preacher. You had to do a lot of offline digging on this one. I love it. Keep up the good work.

I did find the link but it was way back and England. I'm not sure I far you can go back and have it still count. Lol. Thanks for the great review. Genealogy is fun.

Your research is evident here, Beth. You did a great job keeping
all of these relatives straight, Along the way, you give readers great
information on the different branches of your family tree. You have
gone waaay back in history. I'm amazed at what info you were able
to find. It does get complicated, but you presented it well in a way
readers are able to follow. I found this to be interesting.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Very well written. Very well researched. You pretty much stayed on track and kept me interested. Nice work.
Dwight L. Moody was, indeed, an inspired man who accomplished much.
Best wishes.

Ah, Beth... I admire you so much for what you are doing to keep your ancestry alive. I might have mentioned it to you before, but I have traced my Father's line back to the Middle Ages, where he was a preacher in a very rocky time. I plan to focus in on him, building an historical fiction piece. I do believe there is some intergenerational power there, but I don't know precisely how. Have you considered doing the same with Edward Moody?

Thank you Jay, I didn't realize you were interested in genealogy. I look forward to reading your fictional piece based on you middle age ancestor. I need to work on my fiction writing skills. I can seem to get about from writing non fiction. Maybe my imagination is inhibited.

Your imagination isn't inhibited. It may need just a little fun-time and exercise.

I think I would like to have heard him speak, John and Charles' mother Susannah was a Unitarian Christian, father Samuel, was born again they say, I would love to have heard John too. I've tried to discover whether there was an Owen in the Welsh revival under Evan Roberts, there was a revivalist preacher called Owen, and I've wondered.... No record of Christians either side of my family, sigh, I wonder where I came from, enjoyable Beth, blessings Roy

I think probably the Owen family my husband is connected to were Christians and possibly Quakers since they lived in Pennsylvania for a while. I have more research to do on them. I do know they were Welsh.

Wow, you did a lot of research on the Moody ancestry! That's so cool that you are distantly related to that famous pastor/preacher! And you have lots of other preachers in the family! Fabulous background!

She was married to Shadrack Nelson (Shadrach?) You have two spellings.
He was the grand matriarch of (patriarch)
who saved the kings life (king's)

Thank you, Helen. I find the research fun and I always learn things I didn't know before. I have no idea why I wrote matriarch when I was think patriarch. LOL That for noticing those things.
