This is impressive. Writing about surgery is...rare...to say the least. I hope it goes well for you. This is a hopeful writing. Uplifting for a short story on surgery. I like the fact that you included things that had nothing to do with you personally (like your cat). Lots of luck to you and yours. And Sunny.

You could eliminate the first paragraph. BEGIN- WITH 2ND.
You talk of a walk with David. WHO IS DAVID?
Eliminate: THIS MAY SOUND SILLY TO THAT SENTENCE.
Your story is good, but for a smoother reading, some parts of your work need editing as the examples I gave.

You grasped the sentiment of pre-surgery thoughts well. Nice imagery. Your descriptive words flow well expressing clear mental pictures.

Good luck with your surgery. I hope you reach your walking goals.

I think it is natural to have concerns before surgery but I'm sure you are in good hands and your FS family will be praying for your successful surgery and a speedy recovery and for the doctors and caregivers as well.

Thank you for letting us know as you will be in our thoughts and prayers as you continue to prepare for this important upcoming event.

Blessings

Thank you for letting us know about your upcoming surgery on Sept. 1st. I will be praying for you my friend. My knees are giving me trouble these days. I use a lot of biofreeze and other stuff for now. Take it easy and know you will be thought of and prayed for! Teri

First of all, good luck with your surgery. Take your time, follow the doctor's instructions, and I'm sure all will be well. But your post speaks of the anxieties we face in staring this down. I got nervous over a short little surgery to put a plate on my wrist. It is unnerving, going under the knife, and you talk about all those anxieties, including what happens in day to day life while you are gone. What happens to the pets who rely on you. But if we want to get to the other side, we have to go through it. We have to trust the doctors. Hard as that may be. estory

Trust for me doesn't come easy. Trusting surgeons with my past reliance on their performances notwithstanding, it is doubtful to me whether it will turn out all right or just the opposite as has happened to me before. Yet putting the past behind me, I will go on believing what all of you keep telling me and trust that everything will turn out all right.
Thanks for your support and good wishes.

You said it in your last line, and you got it spot on - stay upbeat. Remember, surgeons do this for a living - it's their bread and butter, so no different from you crafting your latest poem of story. You'll be fixed in no time. I really hope Sunny is okay, too.

Thanks, Mike, for your sympathetic review.
You are right. Surgeons are no different than any other career-oriented worker.
I hope you're right that I'll be fixed in no time. Thanks for caring about what happens to Sunny too.
Staying upbeat and positive is in my nature so I will do what I can to remain this way.
    Best wishes,
    Jesse

Hi Jesse,

these times can always be daunting. I think it's the unknown aspect of it all that strike the most. Generally these things are fine and it's a lot of anxiety over very little in the end, but even if we know this, accepting it and being at ease with it are very different things.

All the best for the upcoming weeks and beyond.

Thanks for your understanding review. I agree, it is the unknown that bothers us the most. Anxiety is hard to deal with when you don't like the surgeon. But, we sometimes can't have our way when it comes to choosing surgeons.
Being at ease with it is difficult but the best is still to come.
Still looking forward to walking upright and proud!
    Thanks for wishing me well.
