hahaha.....Funny how you express your humility! I can just see this recollection playing out in real life. There are fans and there are FANS...is my takeaway here. I like it when authors admit defeat in a self deprecating way, because that's how we act with family and friends:)

the big problem with fandom these days is the 'cool' factor which now exists. I'm from the time when if you liked comic books, you got picked on and beat up... good times.
Everything is too mainstream these days and it's ruined it for the rest of us who really had to find things out the old-fashioned way.

I'm a true nerd, always have been. I love both Star wars & Star Trek but prefer the latter. I also love superheroes.

Star Trek is bigger than Star Wars. I think because there are shows and movies. I am a Star Trek fan from childhood but not into it now. That convention sounds like you'll have a great time. Enjoy.

I love the last line. While one can be a fan of Star trek or Star Wars being an "expert" on the characters and episodes being so serious about them, they want to live in a fantasy world.

Unlike someone who dedicates a major part of their lives living in an imaginary world, you exist in the rea world where a living must be made in order for these people to be able to exist. How totally demeaning. It's embarrassing to try to show off your knowledge on a subject and find that someone else spends all of their time making sure they know more than the actors portraying the characters. You need to talk to people like me who have only heard this show exists. I'm in awe of your knowledge.
