I'm imagining St. Nicholas with his "smiling, snow-flecked beard" in July. It is a cooling (due to the snow) and yet warming (endearing for what he represents) picture. I notice that there are no verbs in your poem. Is that intentional? Best wishes in the contest!

I love the snow-flecked beard. That's a lovely little bit of description and brings in Christmas and winter themes without needing to be explicit. Nice pairing of flight/night too - speeding up the flow. I like it :-)
